Any NRS bikers, heard/ read anything close to this... Anyhows, it's just heresays/ rumors that it's gonna replace the race-proven NRS system by 06... Some say it's still gonna be out at around 07-08. Besides, Anthem is still untested in races, as opposed to NRS. Above all, personally, I find NRS linkage-design more appealing. Yeah, no kidding and far from sour-graping too! Hahahah! However, if Anthem has similar linkage-designs like Trance, I have second thoughts. Anddd... Heck, it should be alot lighter than 5.6+lbs. Then I'm gonna get one for myself! ;D Nothing's yet definite. Peeps, we all just have to wait until Interbike! I don't have anymore info other than the pictures. And now, for your viewing pleasure... No more saving though... I still got my money intact for my next-level rig. Yeah, after I have been successful with my NRS' diet program(she's now down to 26.2+lbs, and I could still make it to the 25+ mark i.e. after I'd have procured all my last remaining upgrades) It all comes to migrating first and settling down before my next-level rig! ChEers!

onie,
i also love my NRS. its the best. no bobbing for me as long as i'm on the proper cadence. but i guess you love yours too much. grabe, at a whopping 26.2 lbs lupit na nyan. and you can even bring it down from that figure ha. what can i say, rock on dude! please post the specs and pics of your bike so maybe we can learn from it.
naiilang na tuloy ako sa inyong 2 ni papa rocky, hehehe. me and paul look like scavengers on bikes, pagkasama namin kayo, hehehe.
my hardtail weighs at around 26lbs. hardtail ha, dehins FS. i'm speechless. i thought ako lang ang nababaliw sa pagpapagaang ng bike. palibhasa ako lang yung nagtitipid kaya ang dami kong tanong dito sa PinoyMTBiker, hehehe.

Sir Jon, Thanks for the kind words as well as the kudos! It's nothing compared to other rigs, the likes of Boyok's & Aman's... But I'd be glad to say, "This is my bike. There are many like it, but this one's mine..." And I'm proud of it. Ika-nga, "Love your own!" Besides, I really like the line-up of Giant. You get the best bang out of your well-earned penny. And... For me, it's not so over-kill for my mediocre skills. I like climbing more than going on DH runs. It somehow suits my type of riding where I truly need a stable pedalling platform. More so, just like you, I've made MTBiking out of my passion. And from there on, it just kind of evolved on its own. But mine's really on a recreational level alone. I do believe in the adage: there's only a hairline between passion and addiction. And for me, this is where the road ends after I'd get my last upgrade. I'll just try to make an entry in light-bikes.com Hoping that my bike could pass their standards & stuffs. Let's see what's taking shape in the future. I mean, if it's going to be a real success. Hehehehe! Just like what i read in one article, no pressure... Yeah, no pressure. Just pure fun! Cheers! Sir Omel, I haven't got that far in my readings yet. I guess everything would be definite after Interbike 06... Anyhows, if I'd get some resources revealing its weight I'll post it right away, Sir... This year's Interbike is set to take place in Las Vegas, NV. www.eventseye.com/fairs/trade_fair_event_3704.html

The NRS is the best value full suspension that you can get now. If you are persistent and lucky, you can one up 2nd hand for as low as 20K (or lower) for the frame. I was one of the first lucky ones to have one in 2002 when Giant first became commercially available in PI. The bike is still with me, being upgraded somewhat with lighter components for the occasional races.
I'd suggest going for pre-owned NRS out there and ride it till it breaks. It's bound to be cheaper with the new Anthem around the corner.
You won't be disappointed.
Me? I'm keeping mine since there are very few Silver/Blue NRS in the Philippines (I only saw one other in Sta. Rosa) and building her out as a lightweight race steed. I just got my Trance 2 last week and riding her in the trails until she BREAKS!!!

Hmmm, maintain ko yung NRS ko, I still love the original position of the suspension than this new design.

ayaw ng financier ko ng second hand eh sweerte bat ganon, sabi sa website december pa ang trance. pero meron na. ibig sabihin ba sobrang lapit na ng anthem? may gusto lang ako iquote www.giant-bicycles.com/global/en-US/maestro_intro/maestro_technology/html.aspx"Strategically positioned pivot points create a floating axis, or <b>floating pivot point<\b>, that increases pedal efficiency by counteracting pedaling forces that would otherwise create suspension compression." virtual pivot point yan ah.

A horse is dangerous @both ends & uncomfortable @ d' middle - Ian Fleming Here's what I have sc0oped for the past few weeks of reading. 3.5" of travel Frame weight should be 2320g or 5.1 lb with shock. There is also a column on Cyclingnews: www.cyclingnews.com/tech/2005/shows/interbike05/?id=results/interbike051 Wheeew! I am missing a link, huh? I can't spot a Horst-Link here... That's no 4-link-pivot-system, isn't it? Spot the difference, no rear pivot means GIANT don't want to pay Specialized for their US patent of the Horst link. With such low pivot though, I wonder how significant of an impact it will have on performance. Why dump a reliable systemNRS system license belong to Renault. There's a contract between Renault and Giant until end of 2005. For 2006, Giant had choosen to have their own suspension system, Maestro. For 2006, the NRS system license is used by Bianchi. In case you're dubious, try this: www.bianchi.com/en/products/productsDetail.aspx?category=rc_mtbrange&idmaster=23126 Looks real for me! Go All-mountain!!! Spz Stumpy FSR Carbon '06 brain fade with 5" on both ends you can't go wrong with it esp they claim it weighs only @25lbs(of course, with hi-end parts). NO problem for me though! Cheers! Ride lang ng ride!!!

All-mountain for just 25lbs and you'll be floating around d' rough surfaces!!! Hopefully, by Yuletide '06... Actually, that's gonna be my next project though in the process of... budgeting everthing else here. Above all, justifying the need to have such rig sort of balancing... GO GIANTS!!!

Giant Anthem has a review in Feb '06 copy of MBAction . . . "We'd race an Anthem. It's exactly right for any level of competitior who doesn't want to fuss with building a custom bike, yet needs a no-compromise machine that can take hi to the highest level -- on any continent. More important, perhaps, is the fact that care and attention to detail that Giant has put into the Anthem have established it as a serious player in the rarefied air of professional cross-country competition. Say goodbye to the NRS. After you ride the Anthem, you'll forget it ever existed."

Marketing scheme... there's loads of those things in our world of make believe. ;D i second that brad. the NRS may be a classic but it really does the trick. i really don't see why they'd say that we'll forget the NRS once trying out an anthem. the NRS has pedalling and bump eating efficiencies......period. it may not be the best but its considered one of the best. pero hopefully i'm proven wrong. if there's a better ride, why not? change is good. but please don't exagerate that something as good as an NRS never existed. yan kasing marketing ek ek eh, hehe. anyways, nice research onie. me too, parang di ako naniniwala na mas ok ang anthem when it comes to pedalling. sana makasubok na din ng anthem para malaman natin. bili ka na kasi eh, hehehe. ;D
