the browning computer notes the cadence of the rider and the wheel rotation, if i'm right. i wonder what will happen if i freewheel? there's another one, i saw at a home shopping site, the "autobike" it uses weights on the rear wheel. as the wheel spins, the weight moves from the hub to the rims, pulling a cable connected to the derailleur. what if i'm a gear masher? i don't know if there's an adjustment to the needed force to pull the derailleur. anyway, i'm still sticking to using my shifters and derailleur, he he he

shimano makes an automatic tranny for its "smovers" group for leisure rides i think. check it out on shim website. Its all electronic, powered by a dynamo in the hubs. Cool!

NEXUS by shimano is the tech your talking about. Sprockets integrated inside the hubs and shifts as needed check it out.
