New 2Bliss Tubeless Tire Technology
By creating an airtight seal against the rim, tubeless tires mean no innertube to pinch and split against the rim under sharp impacts - so-called "pinch punctures" or "snake bites". This makes the tire more survivable at flat-out race speeds over rocky terrain and it also allows riders to run lower pressures for extra traction without increasing the puncture risk.
However, until now tubeless tires have not only been heavier than the equivalent tire and separate innertube, they've also been stiffer and less responsive, robbing the bike of crucial "feel" and agility that's needed for optimum XC performance. They've also required dedicated tubeless rims to mount them, rendering existing wheels obsolete should a rider upgrade.
Specialized has not only developed its 2Bliss tires to be up to 200 grams lighter than previous tubeless tires, but they can also be used on tubeless or conventional hook and bead rims, so you're not looking at a whole new wheelset when you upgrade.
They've even developed the RollModel tread pattern to work specifically with the different contact patch of tubeless tires for optimum speed and traction, and edge-of-the-envelope feedback.
With this revolutionary family of tire technologies, Specialized bring you a better cycling experience by going lighter and faster, with greater durability and efficiency than the competition.
....hmmm, no need for the heavier tubless specific (and expensive) rims. seems like a good innovation...has anybody tried this?
