anyone using exustar? how does it fair with its apple to apple shimano counter parts?
example, is a E-PM25 comparable to an XTR pedal? or is XTR compared to an E-PM25Ti? or is an E-PM25 comparable to an XT pedal? (seems weight and material does not have direct comparison)
Exustar seems to weigh less than shimanos. even the prices are not heavy on the pocket.
any comments please.

i'm still deciding what spd pedals to buy. went around yesterday to check the prices. exustar seems more pricey than shimanos. cheapest shimano i found was php800 at paulinas. sorry forgot the model.

All Exustar clipless pedals(at least MTB pedals) are SPD compatible. Got my exustar pedals yesterday. E-PM25 (non Ti model). declared weight for the pair was 270 grams. actual weight i got was 286 grams. each pedal weighs 143 grams. www.exustar.com/pm25.phpbought it overseas via EMS. it cost around PHP 2300+. Tried it with my Shimano SPD shoes and it clicked in securely. comparing with the Shimano pedals (weights from weightweenies.starbike.com/listings/components.php?type=pedals):XTR pedals (PD-M970) = 325.65 grams, how much does this cost?Deore XT pedals (PD-M770) = 353 grams, how much does this cost?PD M540 = 350 grams PD M520 = 414 grams If the cost is even lesser than Deore XT, then Exustar might be a cost alternative (and even the weight far more lighter) compared to the Shimanos. If you are a budget minded shimano person, it even is logical to get the PD M540 rather than the PD-M770 (XT) because it is even lighter by 3 grams. Here are some reviews for the E=PM25. So far so good, however there are only 2 reviews (maybe because its not that popular? But Exustar is a market name already): www.mtbr.com/reviews/Pedal/product_127466.shtml

Are Exustar pedals multi-release like Shimano? Meaning, you can remove the cleats left, right and up?

multi release is not a function on the pedal. its on the cleats. and yes,you can use Shimano cleats on Exustar pedals

Multi release cleats (shimano) cost only P350 so if the exustar cleats is no longer useable because of wear, it's cheap to replace.

I bought the Shimano SM-SH56 multi-release cleats for P500, guess i got a raw deal. And i bought it because the saleslady said that SPD pedals come with single release cleats, and i'm a clipless newbie. But she was wrong, the PD M540 pedals i bought came with dual release cleats (left/right twist). Guess i'll keep this in case i buy another shoe or i wear out the cleats in my sandals.

The OEM Cleats of shimano pedals becomes multi release after some hundred kilometer of use.
I think multi release cleats product are a rip off if you ask me.

realized that the pair is only 284+ grams not 286 I previously stated. Nevertheless, it was a little over the claimed weight. as a pair: as a single part: the other part seems to be heavier by 0.12 grams (is this obvious? ).... tested it on trails.. standing and rolling uphills... felt sturdy and smooth... still need to test it on long rides..... (moderator, just edit the pix if you think it is too big to be posted nd a link will be sufficient)...

I believe around P2500 PD M540 = 350 grams PD M520 = 414 grams 2300 base on internet price at 284 grams. Ah thanks... so it indeed cost less than XT, then lighter than XT. Only thing left to check if it will indeed survive the trails and prolonged rides.
