I'm sure there are lots out there (locally) that have this set up, Finally taking the plunge into the hydraulic brake scene. I got the '06 ('03) model because I prefer the sleeker look of the DCL shifters as opposed to the industrial look of the '07model. Hope you can take time out to give a review.

I've had the 03 XTR's (M960's) DC/hydro combo and when they are tuned, they work very well. However, I spent an inordinate amount of time keeping the shifting tuned and the brakes drag free (due to sticky pistons). The new XTR hydro's are much-much better at retracting the pistons. I probably won't go back to Shimano shifting until they go 1:1. If you did get the M960's and wrench on your own bike, you should replace the cables very frequently (or run full housing) for best shifting. Also, make sure that your pistons are always clean and well lubed (mineral oil) to help in retraction and minimize drag. Also, always keep caliper spacers in your toolkit.

TIA Amen to mr flipinidaho with regards to brake maintenance and the shifting. You've already heard my two cents about that setup Mr Ramon. Just be very diligent about frequently keeping the calipers clean and bleed the brakes regularly and you'll be happy with them.

on my 960s, i replaced the housing every 3 or 4 months... i bled the brakes once a year.

Ok so now I know the difference! Modulation! that's what you call it. It feels like not having your brakes bite the 1st time you dab or grab your brake levers. Initial braking strength is greatly reduced compared to the BB7 grabby braking. I love it! I'll have to keep the maintenance schedule though to keep it working well. I'm really puzzled though about the lock clip found on the pin which holds the brake pads. Its soooooooo flimsy and would definitely fall off easily and inspite of the fact that the pin is threaded, i can imagine it loosening up and eventually falling off. I've asked around the bike shops and none of them have it nor know where to get it. (refer to pic taken from another PinoyMTBiker thread). I was thinking of replacing it w/ C-Clips similar to the one's found on the xtr pin of the jumper pulley. Another friend told me an o-ring would do.

just get some super thin gauge steel wire from the hardware store and twist tie to the end. the clips are easy to lose...
