yeah me too. i've used Araya rims on my bmx when i was in highschool. i broke the frame but the rims remained true. i also used it on my first mountain bike back in college and those rims are still okay up to now. the last pair of this rim was sold in cycle art earlier today, they're P1k a piece. i also saw them at christy's last week. this is what it looks like... the eyelets of this rim extends to the inner wall, it really look and feels bombproof. got the pic from their website... www.araya-kk.co.jp/rim/product.htm

Cool! I've been using Arayas too during my BMX days. Bombproof! But guess what, I also do have my old and trusty Araya RX-7 (Not Mazda ) MTB rims!

Seems most of the MTB rims on their list are XC/AM used.

Taiwan China? there was another model available in cycle art, this one... they were selling it for P850 a piece. v-brake specific though but the same eyelet construction. seems bombproof as well. i've no idea if these are still made in Japan though.

on my rear wheel, i'm using old Araya TM 840F but it's not black unlike the pic above, friggin bombproof. color is, hmm...silver? it's not coated or anything.
btw, i'm running them on disc brakes and they're holding up well. i'm also doing urban assault with them.

How are they compared to mavic 223's?

How are they compared to mavic 223's? the 930 is a lot wider and weights almost 200g more than the 223. they are however stronger. the reason being is that they were built for different disciplines. the 223 is generally used for xc while the 930 is used from dj to fr and even am if you don't mind the extra weight.

when i built my new Rig just a month ago i used this Araya 930 but im too hesitant to continuo using this because of strenght issue that is why i sold this earlier and replaced it w/ Mavic 321 w/c supposed to be a Syncros DS28 but unfortunately that time Paulina's misplaced their stock of the Syncros rim...
its just now that i found out;

Sir edge808 comment: urban assault rims sweet!
So is this true?..i might shifted back to this rim if this really built for DJ, FR and AM!!!

bad side of this rim (i think) is tire dismounting is so d@mn hard even if your using folding tires. never encounter this at sun rims double track. tire changing is equivalent to 1 hour work out. hehehe!
sir knobbyist waht riding discipline are you? if your urban to DH try alex rims dx32, another strong rim.. if your running out of patience finding this araya rims.

olraci ride AM mostly and some urban as well. i don't ride DH but im on the heavy side so i want this rim cause its seems bulletproof. the construction of the eyelet in particular, you see that in hi-end mavic rims. unfortunately the dx32 is way too wide for my type of riding. im thinking of settling for the rhynolite if i can't find this sweet rim. but at the moment i really want this one. thanks olrac.
