@vim414
As early as 2001 I have also considered having disc brake tabs brazed on my steel frame.
I never went through it because I couldn't bring myself to mar the the titanium anodized finish- even at one dropout only. Nakakahinayang!
Anyway, I think the solution for me would be something like the floating disc brake mounts used in DH bikes. Or something like the Brake Therapy setup.

Anyway, I think the solution for me would be something like the floating disc brake mounts used in DH bikes. Or something like the Brake Therapy setup. I think it will only be "Nakakahinayang", if a bike is not enjoyed or used. Maybe this is why I can only keep one bike at a time. I've had the privilege of trying different frames and group sets in the last few years, but one at a time. I'm with you! If this frame were titanium anodized, I think I'd have had the same reaction. I wouldn't even dream of messing with it! But, painted cro-mo at 2k...I could not resist! hehehehe FYI-this project started out for a commuter/exercise bike to be built with excess parts from upgrades of my two boys....I had enough parts to complete a disc brake group set! Anyway, I'm enjoying this project (I still have a few details I'd like to work on before I can consider it done). For me, this is what really counts. Enjoy! Be blessed. Vic P.S.- I may have to break my one-bike rule for this marin, this one is a keeper!

But Ave is probably your best bet. Probably less expensive than what you can get from a mfr PLUS it's custom.

brad you guy's are very lucky to have Ave in your place much more that he is using jigs to build frames ... here in Cebu it's mano y mano ... wish i could have one custom build for myself, xc specific, long top tube, short chainstays, s-bend seatstays, disktabs, short headtube, designed for 65mm travel, etc.,etc. not bad to dream right, but for now i'm happy with my geared Jamis exile ;D ;D ;D CUSTOM BUILD NA!!!

supTwo weeks ago I was at All Terra and they had two Voodoo steel frames on display. The price was kinda stiff though- Php35K if i remember it right. Yup It's 35K for the top-of-the-line Reynolds tubing frame, it comes with Breezer dropouts too. There's also the Voodoo Hoodoo for P18000 and the Wanga (which is singlespeed capable) for P21000 Do let me know if you're interested, we may be able to arrange something Here's a question: what's the most you'd be willing to pay for a quality steel frame? One that uses thin-wall, butted CrMo tubes and proven geometry? We'd like to know, and possibly bring in Voodoos that fit your budget

Specially for a frame with sliding drops...

32by18, i guess i'm willing to pay for something along the price range of a surly. as of the moment, i'm still happy with what i have. maybe when i break it, or have the urge to try a 29er. ;D

Agu, although the Aizan is not a steel frame I'd like to know how much would it cost. Been wanting to build a geared 29er. Thanks!

From the Independent Fabrication website:
"NOTE: Do not use a product such as WD-40 as this will wash away the Frame Saver and make your frame even more vulnerable to rust in the future."
now i just want to go home and treat my frame with motor oil to protect my frame. ;D

Cro mo is back at Dirt jumping....so does its fork cro mo (imagine a bigger bmx bike)...due to many frame Alum been broken and fork been split apart while jumping...set/draw back on this wave of cro mo DJ frame and fork---- the rider will become tagged as a "human suspension"...

this thread made me miss my old bike even more i also used to ride a muddy fox back in the early 90's. back then, there was this guy named "Mang Rey" from Pasig who was known for custom building good steelies. Too bad I wasn't able to have one built by him. I hated the waiting time and opted to get a frame off the rack instead
