Couldn't help it, had these installed these morning based on face value alone from an LBS. On paper - - low power outage vis-a-vis ordinary bearings 1.5 vs. 0.08 (significant) - faster heat dissipation (significant) - virtually frictionless (significant) - stronger than steel (dunno, havn't broken any yet inspite of girth) - anti-magnetic (significant) - proprietary yellow lightning seals for off-road applications (significant) - 2/3 lighter than steel (insignificant) - 3.8%++ increase in speed on flats & descents (significant). A controlled condition observation was made on a downhill portion..1st pass ran for 25km/h, succeeding passes on ceramic bearings averaged 27.5km/h. - no metal welding - no seizures - exclusively made in the USA (?!?!?) My shallow understanding - - My Amclassic already performs above par with its 6-pawl engagement. In fact, I have difficulty talking with anyone on flats because I have to constantly use my brakes just to keep up. Front wheel rotated roulette style ran for almost 1 minute. After upgrade, front wheel was again rotated (despite the regulation break-in period to loosen up the bearings). We stopped the rotation of the wheel at 4 minutes (life is too short to spend watching rotating wheels, don't you think?). -Contrary to pundits, it's not expensive on absolute terms. They're LESS than 1/3 the price of Ceramicspeed & Woodcock, and on some VXB models, and you don't have to go out of the country to have your wheelsets upgraded. Avoidable Mistakes -should not have upgraded from XT to Raceface cranks (opted for absolute weight savings vis-a-vis performance enhancement since upgrade would have given same results) -should not have upgraded from Amclassic Terrain to MTB 26 (upgrade would have surpassed MTB26) Now, if only I had some money left for the BB upgrade....

@gbb - hahaha, mind reader!! @mountg - They have upgrades for Shimano BBs, Mavic Crossmax SL/SLRs, Shimano hubs, Dura ace, Raceface, FSA Mega Exo, Saint BBs, Campy, Bontrager XXXLite, etc. and the price varies per model. Will PM you for the price since mine's IOU because the landed wasn't finished when I got it, just a ballpark figure.

i have an xt wheelset - wh765. can these be upgraded to ceramic bearings also? pls pm me more or less how much this would set me back. thanks! :-)
was thinking of getting am classic mtb 26 disc as my "race" wheelset (even if i don't race) since it's significantly lighter (1480 g vs 1800+ g). would a bearing upgrade to ceramics be a better move than getting a new wheelset? thanks in advance!

I just replaced all the bearings on my Mavic Crossmax xl, I bought all SKF bearing w/ double rubber covers as advised by my Mechanic. Set me back Php 1.6K for all 6 pcs. freewheel bearings included.
It rolls very smooth, but after reading your reviews I'm very interested. How much did it cost you?
TIA

around 6500.00 at bikeroom, she's the only one carrying the last stocks since no lbs carrying amclassic wants to carry it.
you can try the amclassic dealers though, heard middle of last year they are bringing in the ceramic bearings. if you were able to purchase your amclassic this year, you can also try opening up your bearings...you might be surprised to find that they are already ceramic..the risk is that rubber seals are not reusable (mostly) compared to stainless steel seals with rubber retainers. that means, if you open up your bearings and its not ceramic, you wont be able to return the seal and use these.
succinctly...if you puchased your set recently, you may already been using generic ceramic bearings... especially if you havnt been experiencing bearing problems lately.
there's a strategy between the lines, i think...
ask also vincent, he's the only one i know using amclassic wheelsets with quality ceramic bearings.
@brad omel, really convincing? haha, parang hinde.
either the pinoy amclassic market is not ready, or the brand (amclassic) is locally protected. then again, you can get authentic amclassic ceramic bearings in the usa for US$200.00 per kit. either way, you'll be hard pressed to find amclassic ceramic bearings in the local market which is glaringly different with other wheelset brands such as dt swiss, mavic, tune, hadley, shimano.
i'll get back to you when bheng gets back from the states. maybe she still has those bearings in stock.
