your welcome guys.
Raul got the tire set up spot-on for last weeks race.
Arnel, the fastrack is similar to the SME, only a rear tire. Roll-x or nevegal upfront and fast track or SBE in the rear. Kevin has the roll-x(F)-fastrack(R) set up. He has the spez tires (yung tag-300) and i have the Kenda's. hehehe....

xero: I don't think so. Maybe we should have a group buy online? I like the idea of 2.10 or 2.35 for urban assault too although I am happy with the 1.95 as all around commuting and trail tires.

thanks for sharing that very fresh review of the SBE brad. that's very helpful to those riders like me who are considering to try out this tire and congrats to your strong finish on that recently concluded race i would like to follow your set-up: Nevegals Front and Small Block Eight Rear followed this setup... tried it last week at sta rosa... all i can say is.. GOOD! hehe! the fronts stick well and peddling is way way easier than the nevegals at the rear. didnt wash me out during the downhills of sta rosa... i recommend you guys try it out. i would just have to try it out in the mud...

I have tried SBE at the rear and Maxxis Ignitor in front. No problem on hardpack soil but less traction on mud. You will just skid if you pedal because of small knobs.

i am using the SB8 for a month now and I agree on Sir Ramon's review.
I saw this SB8 first on the bike of Raul when we hit the Licao-Licao trail. I was using Nevegal then and the Nevegal really harvested as much mud as he can that i really had a hard time pedalling.
It can be considered high volume and with with its high TPI rating, even you have the tire pressure up to 50, it is still soft for the ride.
Anyway, this is well design tire for the rear only.

Does it come in a tubeless variant?

now that it's off season, will they do well on mud/semi-muddy conditions? or should i stick to my rear V-raptors?

good day to all sir, I just want to share my experience on the SB8. For me when i test them on maraat, bosoboso and Seara Madre last June, sb8 front and back they pretty much ok naman even in mud, hard pack soil and in dirt it didn't give me a slip even on the wall. As for me they are great tyres for all season. It give nice roll on the ground than Nevegal as far i notice, because I have 2.1 nevegal and 1.9 Irc serac too, as for now I love using this SB8 tyre. that all thank for reading, God Bless us all rider always.

After having used SB8 for over three months now. My only complaint is that it wears soooo fast. This might be a big consideration for others. So buy it to race w/ then revert back to the "reject" spez tires sold at 300-400 /pc. for everyday use.

My SB8s are now 8 months old and have run >2500kms - about 60% on concrete and asphalt, the rest on all sorts of terrain - hardpack, grass, mud, gravel, etc. They would initially wear fast then will have a long quiescent stage where they don't seem to wear out at all. Then all of a sudden the knobs will become tinier and tinier again. My rear SB8's center knobs are almost flat but the front is still good. I think the tire last longer if the pressure is kept low to around 30-35psi, probably because braking/skidding which is the #1 cause of tire wear will be evenly distributed to the 4 knobs instead of the two center knobs. Anyway they will soon be semi-slicks which will be even better for the road hehehe.

Something about SB8 that attracts everytime bits and pieces of rusted discarded staplers that litter mountainous trails of San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Everytime I bike out using SB8 as rear tire, on middle of the ride and/or towards the end, my rear tire gets soft na and needs to be pumped up. I repeat..everytime as in 100%. I can bike home pa naman because tire gets softer only and can be pumped up twice or thrice before reaching home. Once in comfort and security of home, as always same location where inner tube got punctured, SB8 will reveal tiny fragment of rusted stapler, long enough to poke and release air slowly out of inner tube. Very frustrating and disappointing talaga. Other than this 100% absolute defect, SB8 performs well as advertized.

Your SB8 is a debris magnet... That's too funny! I've been thinking about putting Stans into a regular presta tube (if you have schrader, it's even easier).

I got home with the tires nicely inflated only to find the tire completely deflated the next day. Upon inspection - I found a staple (probably a tacker staple) wedged between two knobs with a super tiny hole on the tube that I could not find (but PasawayL did). The only other time the rear SB8 went flat was when I pinched flat the inner tube with an rim breaker into a deep square edge pothole along Pasong Tamo - that is after enduring a long trip from Sta. Rosa and lunar-scape west and east service roads beside SLEX. My front SB8 has yet to be flat (knock on wood!). This is in contrast to my previous tires which are Maxxis Larsen TTs which had a flat about every month or so - usually from bubog (glass fragments).

Lots of chichirias and cheapo assorted snackies likes of peanuts, butong pakwan, cornicks, chicharon, etc. etc. sold at barrio/trail level sari sari stores come packed with staplers as its sealing medium. Often you see kids and adults alike bite off staplers first, spit it out to the ground, before they enjoy snackies contents. A day or two or week afterwards, here comes fafaRock and hyperion riding side by side luxuriating on ride of their SB8. Then later on, Fafarocks rear tire looses its 32 psi down to 22.
The culprit?
The thousand and one rusted staplers proliferating on San Jose del Monte, Bulacan trails.
It is pathetic and not funny anymore!
On other tires I used on same trail however, IRC Serac 1.95, Kenda Karma tubeless 1.95, Kenda Nevegal 1.95, Panaracer Cinder 1.95, Nokian Gazzallodi 2.1, Maxis Larsen Oriflamme 2.1 ... no problemo. Only on poor poor stapler magnet SB8!
