i like the truvativ teams stems. they're good looking, lighter then thomson and less expensive. i recently got a thomson stem & seatpost second hand though, and i have no complaints, aside from when you put install it with negative rise the THOMSON label is upside down

I like the Raceface stems (Diabolus and Deus). The bolts just rust up a little, so you have to grease he heads a bit. I have a thomson elite too. I find it a bit tricky using that pinch bolt system for the steerer. Much more straightforward using the usual bolt system of other stems or the thomson X4.

I like Turbolite. Affordable, light, what more can you ask for? Got a 110 inverted. Bonus is, inverted, you can still read "Turbolite"! ;D

Hmmmmm
I use/ used :
*RF Diabolus ...best DH stem IMHO ...bolts dont rust (weird but true) *RF Deus XC ... cant understand why its so expensive ...finishing s not tops in the matteblack model + bolts rust but its light *Easton MG90 ..paint breaks but its stiff and ubber light *Easton EA50 .. stiff but heavy *Easton EA70 trapdoor clamp ... dont like it *Ritchey Race ...ubber light but oldschool looks *Thomson Elite ... bad feedbacks from DHers even though the static weight strength is there ...maybe the strength comes from the malleability of the metal = a bane if you twist it in DH though ...its not super light for XC pa *Tioga Cube ....strong (period) . dont like it * had a Funn Serial Killa ...twas strong but has that "military gun metal feel" that I dont like *Turbolite (yellow) ...stiff and nice ...I didnt mind the small weight addon
My votes :
DH : RF Diabolus is A-OK AM: Eastons and Thomsons are good XC: Eastons are tops

for my XC bike it's an Easton EA50 stem and for my AM bike i'm using Thomson Elite X4 i've tried amoeba and truvativ in the past - but it seems Eastons and Thomsons are the best

but for DH applications - i understand that Race Face components are getting more and more popular not only on the stem dept. but also on the handlebars and cranks

I had used turbolite & amoeba. Amoeba: loss thread... Turbolite: From time to time I have to re-tighten the head tube clamp, then as time goes by, the clamp was stretching. At least it doesn't crack, but "elastic metal"? Hmmm can't put my trust on it! I like Turbolite. Affordable, light, what more can you ask for? Got a 110 inverted. Bonus is, inverted, you can still read "Turbolite"! ;D

i've been using a truvativ hussefelt dh stem for a year now. no complaints. this stem is not that expensive and really2x tough... it takes all the abuse i can give it (i like jumps and wheelies a lot). if you want a cheaper tough stem, i recommend the amoeba borla dh stem. this was my previous stem... same punishment for a lower price.
ride safe!
