for real, there is something wrong with the suntour fork... not that i'm discouraging you from owning/buying one... but i have heard some gripes/rants about the fork... let's wait for the review of ex-owners of these forks... I guess all forks has pros and cons even Fox's have cons too...

MY old MTB has an SR-Sakae Suntour Fork ( when they are still partner i guess ), the fork still works well and is made in japan, maybe today if thet is a bnew, it costs more than an average manitou or rock shox, in w/c some of them are made in taiwan.
But todays Suntour is now Taiwanese, I hope that they retain the origibal toughness of it.

Thanks for reply, I just visited them this Thursday all they have XCP (black one) The other is XCR poplock only (gray), but it was installed on built bike. Just wanna share my experience with my present '06 XCR suntour fork which i bought 2 years ago...
...it's still holding up hahaha
freakin' strong for such a cheap fork
i'd bombed down it often at roxas trails and hit full speed going down to AFP/aling tina's
hahaha
hardcore for the less fortunate!

The pop-lock on mine is worth putting up with it's softness (it bottoms out during normal braking). Moreover, it can withstand a 220 lb rider like me.

XCR-LO 2005 model 100mm features a manual lock-out and pre-load. Php 2k. No problemo after 2 years. XCR-LO 2006 model 120mm " " " " " " " . Php1.2k second hand. No signs of weaknesses. And lately my 05 model I tried it accidentally to check if could be travel adjusted and it did. Now its travel is 100mm-80mm its like having two forks because of its geometry. SR SUNTOUR's market is more of Europe like the MAGURA's, it is great value for your Peso. And not to much hassle to clean and disassemble. Parts can be bought at motorcycle shops.

hello. new rider here. bought an rst gila plus t7 for my 1st bike ok naman just a little bit harder than my xcr 120mm travel. ok yung xcr 2.9k only with lockout i hope it would last a long time. very light compared to the rst.

magkano XCR with remote lockout dyan sa pinas ngayon? I'm thinking of bringing one or two and selling it there (anyone interested? ) with me when i go back home three weeks from now, that is if my baggage allowance will permit. And if it is cheaper here. I can bring home other Suntour Forks if anyone is interested. Give me the local price so i can weigh if it will be cheaper here and if its worth the effort. - jep barrera BTW, this is my friend's account, i borrowed it from him, i can't get my own since the register function of the boards is currently disabled.

3 riders in the family...all with xcr. hope these forks last long with newbies like us... most of the time, we just engage trials as if its unbreakable! so far, wala pa naman damage on the fork nor injury to us. if budget permits, would install a pricey fork on my son's bike...expecting safer ride for him! regards

any review on suntour epicon? i saw one at quiapo. i'm hesitated to buy it because it has a remote lock-out. i don't know what is more durable, w/ lock-out knob or remote lock-out.

I never knew Epicon's were here already, they're for XC and AM use.
How much?
Where?
Are ther DURO or RUX out there too?
The remote lock-out knob will occupy space on your cockpit, and more cables, it is best used in races and during pumping climbs, so you dont need to stoop.
The lock-out knob would be cheaper if you are not into racing you'll get by.
Bottom line they are both durable. Mind you they maybe sourced out in Taiwan but they are ISO certified products, and pass German standards period

SR Suntour is a subcontractor for Marzocchi... SR Suntour is an internationaly acclaimed and an ISO Certified company. Quality system is in place. It just that they are catering for the lower and middle end markets. They didn't focus yet in the upper end market. Product wise, SR Suntour fork is superb. Its a value for your money.
I am also a past SR Suntour user... my forks were XC Pro (w/ pre-load and rebound), XCP DJ (w/ pre-load only) and XCR (w/ pre-load only). I am pleased on each one of them but had sold the 3 to make way to my Zokes as their replacement.

lloyd, Kudos to the man, very well said. To hear you being pleased is enough. I understand the need for you to part ways with the 3. mAYBE IN TIME I COULD MAKE THAT LEAP, but i think the family comes first for now.
Its just that there so much models of Suntour to fit ones riding style, but the local market isn't that flooded with it, the mentality of products that are more expensive should be better is a no no.
I admit i just couldn't afford Mar, F, Mag, RS, they are just too OOver priced. But with the Suntour's and other entry level suspension products, which fit in the budget and features just exactly what the others does, its just plain great value for the money.
It's good Suntour XCR's are still priced low enough, as I see it, many PinoyMTBiker members use them with minimal complaint. As economics said The law of supply and demand might tend to make their price a bit higher ( hope retailers and wholesalers aren't reading this ).
As long as there is no recall what so ever about Suntours forks in my own opinion i will patronize them. Even if in bike gatherings they just look at my fork and see a Suntour installed in it, the heck, as long as it does what its supposed to do " dampen things up ".

@ bobby, We'll never get wrong in choosing SR Suntour. By the way, due to my abusive ridding style. I'm into DJ, freeride and Dh racing po kasi... its the main reason why we parted ways with my 3 SR Suntour forks. But each one of the 3 didn't let me down. In fact, had made a 2nd place in one of our local DH race in Cebu before using the XCP DJ... i'm racing DH in novice category during that time. Way to go po Sir... Ride Hard but Ride Safe...
