not the azonic extension, what were using is the 03 X2 extension frame. same same nice true 4 bar frame (vertical axle path), the rear wheel sticks on the ground stiff rear end with 12 mm thru axle
"built for the fastest racers" (was the azonic tagline)
here are the list of pro and novice who were using it in local races:
pro (podiumers):
- Joey barba phils. no.1 dh rider (silver, sea games (extenssion with fox 40 using xtra small frame only 1 in the philippines) - aki nolasco (baguio ukay riders) with marzoochi) - caloy c. (punks bike shop in apple green) - jonga (extenssion with 03world cup boxxer) - jay t. (frame to be build) - wendell barba(dumaguete)
novice (non podiumers nevermind hehehehehe/ freeriders):
peng valenzona (extenssion with modified boxxer) rocketman(extenssion with 01 boxxer)
ask jonga (alpha jong) about the frame hehehe. all paraises, that why he is our new pro dh rider.
retails around P30k at your local bike shop

it breaks! very nice geometry but i know three riders here in iloilo with a broken xtension frame. . .one of them is a 50+ executive downhiller(doesnt do drops more than 5ft.)

actually this happened in mike borja's shop. the guy was sitting on his bike, just talking...and the sorry thing just snapped. i would guess the guy is around 160 -170 lbs. The extension of my other friend (he's about 120lbs) also cracked, he's a downhiller, but it's a downhill frame right?
If the budget is around 25k to 30k, i would probably stick with a tixxter (not as flashy but a real workhorse)

maybe they call it xtension coz the frame extends, to the point that it breaks na lang ;D if it happens to just one frame then maybe we can blame to factory defects but with 3 frames breaking i guess it basically a poor quality frame

M@n, that sucks.
however, a few of the Extension users abuses this frame for awhile now. ex. Joey B, droped it in so many races for about a year or two. Caloy of punks blast the Patiis trai with it, Aky Nolasco, uses the same rig at the " Lovely day " shoot in Camp john hay 12 footer drop. and recently, Alpha-pa-jhong posing for pictures with it.

Probably it was weakened before he split the thing. Did all the 3 cases cracked on the same spot? That sucks ;D Maybe get a Shawn nalang after that technical article that the single pivot performance equates an FSR hehe But seriuosly Dall's list of people I think uses an earlier Xtension frames tama ba? Than that one on the picture?

;Dnice thread Don't forget It won silver in 05 south east asian games, and the taiwanese national team rides this one in the last asian mtbike championship in palawan just talked to sam lao (ross cycling) yesterday, the taiwan factory closed shop na, i dunno how the warranty wil be hehehehe Just covered the "exten" with sticker then u have a 4 bar link version of the "sion" . hehehehehe corny joke maybe it's in the one who is riding, one can ride agressively with finesse, flow flow flow, and the other one can ride just agressively. maybe it developed a crack when it was used in dh riding, not just by sitting. check your frames for hairline cracks now na! GTU buy ka pa? o u want to have kids, hehehehee This one, "inside the new pro's bike" (sorry jay, borrow the pic) 03 X2 extension. what technical article? how reliable?, how can a single pivot rides like a four bar linkage? true FSR 4 bars links (the rear wheel is on the chainstay member not on the swing arm, a horst link) it has near vertical travel wheeel path, and dont have brake jack. while single pivots rear wheel path travels in an arc.

;Drides like an XC bike indeed (di ba GTUly?)
peng (frorider) rode one with boxxer from pasay to los banos laguna, and back, di ba feline?
with a boxxer and dhx 5.0 and mavic rims, 03 xt brakes) it's light and agile dh race bike, Not a "pig"
even Sam of cycle options was surprised how light my dh bike was, his comment "pang world cup to a!" (but his bike is da real one for world cup intense m3/888). hehhehe
;DI did perfrom experiment, I tried to sit on it half day and nothing happens, I therefore conclude u cannot crack it just by sitting, duh hehehehe joke
Ill just keep an a eye on that critical spot thanks.
Sir rafael,
i stay at my uncle's house (famous exec judge rene hortillo hehehe), in Alta tierra when i visit there
our ancestral house is in burgos lapaz, near the rail tracks
i have a lot in land heights subdivision, might settle there when i retire.
but mike b. brought these frames in ilo-ilo, because biblib sya sa frame, its the frame that has beaten his orange 223, intense vpx, etc. on several dh races.
last time in dh race, mike b said: "Oy maliit yang frame sayo, benta mo sakin" gusto mo ng orange dagdag ka ng konti, I told him " pagiisipan ko muna" translation "I think about it"
;DHey I heard that mike b is showing his stuff over there U.S. he did climb on a dh bike and they notice it, "a monster" daw that's what they call him hehehe
he said he will try to join amateur races, who knows he might get sponsors and he will become famous over there, they do not know yet he is former philippine team member.
just imagine a pinoy rider in the Norba races, that will be great.
:DHey just talked to Joey barba recently, He said he just borrowed and will also use the philippine govt issued scott DH bike medium)/boxxer team.
they bought 4 units and all is just in the stock room somewhere in PSC.
i ask joey why not borrow all, hehehe so we can test ride the scotts hehehehe.
