i met a fellow biker early this afternoon and he's selling the following: XT shifter pods m750 XT crank hollowtech II m760 XT fd m760 XT rd m760 XT cassette m760 all for 11k. the parts are guaranteed that were used only for 1 ride. i've checked them and they were impressive and no sign of wear & tear. now here comes the problem, due to the unused of the said components, the chain developed a considerable amount of rust. the parts are still on his bike so to say. the rd, cassette & crank rings have these tiny spots of rust. the cassette has the most severe case. what's a good cleaning agent for rust? soak them in kerosene? is 11k already a good deal? oh by the way he's including a cateye bottle cage, a lizard skin and a planetbike pump. thanks for any inputs.

That seems to be a good deal. You are right, you might be able to use kerosine or WD40 to clean the rust off. BTW, if you are planning to sell the cranks please email me. I've been planning to upgrade to the XT Hollowtech II cranks.

TURKO rust converter, lusaw ang kalawang dyan! ehehehe effortless "Lusaw"- meaning it just dissolves and falls off? I bought a liter of Turko last week but I haven't used it on my rusted roof trusses. The label says Turko chemically transforms the rust (iron oxide) into a dark gray colored phosphatic compound. Hmmm, I'll see it for myself next week.
