after being postponed twice last year, (except nvp/ noel's group traversing laguna on roadbikes) the laguna loop finally happened, all riders on mtbikes many thanks to absolutezero/uly, bend over/tolits, aman, and offroadie, (sensya na ser di ko na ma-recall name mo sa pagod hahaha) for initiating this and insisting that it must push thru, no matter what ;D ;D ;D the proposed route by uly was followed(?), may side trip pa... here are some shots from my camera class picture at alterra. one guy joined up along the way... total number of bikers: 15 we havent started the ride yet but mr. ledesma is already looking forward to the after ride drinks.... ;D across shopwise, 5:30am take-off. if it not for kaloi's phonecall, malungkot sana si j _ _ _2 sa ride na ito ;D 6:30-ish, after pasikot sikot in pasig/pateros/taguig barangays, dito kami lumabas... ..by 7:15am, we're somewhere in binan, laguna. one of us had an unusual/freaky spill beside where this photo was taken. he just cleared his throat... ayos na, larga na ulit ;D... breakfast muna in nearby carinderia... calamba junction, towards los banos 8:10am bay town junction.... regroup and buko break muna 9:38am (i based the time on the digicam hehehe) regroup again approaching pila town... rodel in his drunk-and-i am-with-my-buddies pose ;D halo halo break before entering sta. cruz... cruising the highway at around 30-32 kph, this guy spotted the halo halo stand because of the tindera.... talas talaga ng mata mo pre ;D internet shop beside the halo halo stand.... jon: "ano pare, i-post na natin mga kuha mo?" ;D ;D ;D kaloi all alone in the store across the street... ...we reached this town around 10:50am... my odometer reading san juan (mla) to pagsanjan.... parang scripted ba... but its true hehehehe pakil town's belfry... lunchtime 11:30 "scramble" for dessert... wacoal or triumph?..... alam ko na... barely there!!! ;D ;D ;D "sidetrip" shots. paul transformed into a tour guide... ...the water is ice-cold.... sourced from the nearby hill/mountain.. 12:40.... onwards to rizal towns ...downpour somewhere in famy/mabitac, laguna towns... ...we should have listened to tolits' advise about bringing raincoats... ... at bugarin's lomihan: 2:20pm, at least for me and lipchord/marlon ;D thanks brad .... going up bitukang-manok was really.... regroup again at morong town ( big thanks to mtguitars for sweeping my digicam in the store ) up next: famous sikos of teresa. saving the best for last .... ;D final reststop: burger machine somewhere in antipolo's many junctions... 4:22pm home stretch na... total mileage. unfortunately, double century did not happen for me but im sure the others hit the mark.... many thanks to those who initiated this ride, and to those who participated thanks all for viewing

this ride is awesome. now i know why i'll never become a road biker, hehehe ;D. i almost fell asleep like 3 times. hmmm.......maybe if i've slept more than 2 hours i wouldnt feel sleepy, hehehe ;D.
to all the guys who joined this, lakas nyo. clipless or not, knobbies or not, fullsus or hardtail, you made it. i hope the guy with 2.3 tires made it one piece, hehehe ;D.
i've learned a lot from this ride and one of them is that kenda small block eights are good during wet road conditions becoz the road filth from the rear wheel doesnt get onto your back. galing!

Great ride guys! We're also planning a clockwise laguna lake loop ride starting from all terra via antipolo/bugarin. Hopefully we can do it before the summer ends. We're still looking for someone who can guide us. Will post thread on the fun rides/eb's topic. Hopefully, other riders who haven't done it but been thinking about it will join too. Thanks for sharing the pics. Ride safe!

(mtbventures) malvin and jeremy, thanks for the pics. malvin, you owe me a bottle of chivas for staying behind, hehehe ;D. buti na lang mabait yung tindera, she gave me the camera before jeremy and i hit the pedals and fortunately, me and jeremy were the last to leave the store. so hopefully all PinoyMTBiker peeps head out to the 12 hours sabak race on may 17. let's all have a good time, karerista or not. for the love of cycling . malvin, dun ka na bumawi sa 12 hrs race, hehehe ;D. (trans: give it to me baby, hehehe ;D.) thanks by the way to aman and roadie project for being our guides. thanks also to the organizers of this ride.

nice ride guys....yeah for me it's my first 12 hr endurance ride minus the swimming part...nice meeting new friends...instant bonding at pakil....the swimming part was worth it after hours of chasing the "halimaws" on the flat road to pagsanjan and up mabitac to bugarin....i was very confident climbing mabitac with a roadbike but the ride gave me a lesson of humility and finding a new climbing rhythm with an XC...got home 6pm coz i side tripped to angono...need to deliver something to a friend there...my cyclo read 203 km.... jon, we share the same view but of different bikes. Same here feel like sleeping up mabitac. Man, it far more difficult to climb with an MTB...Nice riding with u...or should i say chasing u. @mtbven, nice pics (buti na lang mey nadala ng cam) @kaloi, got a quote from u, "bilugin mo lang" ok....Manila-Baguio naman next time. Im the guide. hehe

Thank you, Malvin & Aman, for sharing these photos!! The complete lineup of Laguna Loop Riders last 10 May 2008, Saturday: - Ben Dover - Freeman - MountG - Kaloi - Wi-fi - Goku - Lipcord - Charles - JeremyGo - Jubz - Offroadie - Xxamanxx - Absolutezero - Mtbventures - Alison (lone rider with tire size that's more than 2.1) - Plankton_dash My fond memories of this freakingly awesome PR-breaking epic ride: • Kaloi's full-sus Cannondale Rush, with 1.5(?) slicks. Not something you see everyday. ;D • Going nostalgic when we passed by Pateros (my original hometown)...sorry, absolutezero, if I bored you with my mini-travelouge • Pedalling while in a trance-like mood in the peloton, lulling you into a hypnotic, sleepy state (like what MountG mentioned), never mind if the pace is 30kph (never going below 25kph) under the scorching heat or the driving rain! • Malvin singing "Laguna...nang ikaw ay marating ko...", which I joined in the chorus, but it didn't catch on to the other musically challenged halimaws ;D • The canopy of trees lining up both sides of the highway, I don't remember exactly where, but it was somewhere going to Sta. Cruz, giving us much-needed shade. • Misty Mt. Makiling coming into view. How majestic compared to my daily scenery of Montalban mountain ranges. • Ben Dover chasing down two helmet-less roadies in Los Banos. The unsuspecting pair were en route to Real, Quezon & had apparently came from Silang, Cavite (tama ba, Charles?). • Wi-fi's impression of "gay" Ironman. ;D • Going into tourist-mode while passing through Pagsanjan. • Making "tampisaw" & "lublob" (coz I'm no swimmer!) in the icy spring waters of Turumba, Pakil, Laguna. Totally unplanned, but seriously fun! • Local girls in Famy screaming "ang pogi!" to Jeremy Go ;D • Raising my hands to heaven when my cyclocomputer registered 200km when I arrived in Marikina...just thanking God for His sustaining grace & giving us strength, acknowledging His blessing because nobody got injured, no major accidents happened & no equipment breakdown whatsoever (not even a flat tire)! My total distance: 213.08km My total pedal time: 9hrs 54min Easily one of the most defining rides in my life. Thanks, guys, for letting me tag along.

Congrats to the halimaws! Wish I joined - the ride looks BIG FUN but I probably would have slowed the group especially on the climbs. Hopefully there would be more rides like this in the future.

• Local girls in Famy screaming "ang pogi!" to Jeremy Go ;D Ok lang sana kung "girls" nga yun, some of them I think were questionable... also, as I recall the shouting starting nung nauna ka sa akin... so... hehe. ;D

@charles - thanks for the info... hans - you would've loved this ride (i myself don't know why "only a few" joined)...but hey, there's a 25May Laguna Loop ride the works! @jeremy - you were nearer the aforementioned "girls" kaya the screams were obviously directed to you, hehehe ;D

surprisingly, its quite doable on almost any setup (SS not included in the ride, hehehe). iba iba kami ng setup at skill level pero di kami magkakalayo.
slicks, knobbies, fat tires, narrow tires, full suspension, hard tail.
(trans: just do it, hehehe ;D)

Are you guys working for a road surveying company??? The numbers you are doing will give roadies second thoughts if you can do Lungcaire again. What a nice adventure for a bunch of hardcores. Thanks for sharing!
