Positive impressions: This fork was a big surprise for me. Costing less than a third of what my Fox Talas RL did, i found this fork a very valuable find!
At its normal setting, the shock has about 4" of travel which works fine for me on most of the riding i do. but when you need a better climbing position, flick the lever on above the left stanchion, pump the fork down once via your handlebars...and voila, you're locked out at 3" of travel! and whats even better is that the suspension continues to play and absorb the bumps, but doesn't bob when you're pedalling up the hill....so easy to use! and effective! ;D ;D ;D
This shock has an air spring on one side, and for my weight and preference, pumped to about 40psi, and a coil spring via the ETA (External Travel Adjustment) on the other side. With the combination of air and spring, i found the suspension feel not very different from my Fox Talas...and again, at less than a third of the cost!!! I bought it for 10.5K back sometime in November or December And since then, the play has gotten better and better!
Possible Concerns: The ETA lever has been an issue with others, as it doesn't look too strong and has been known to break. It's a little heavy, and the tire clearance is just enough for a 2.1 tire. Anything bigger and you'll have likely have prblems esp when going through mud. It also came with a gaudy sticker on it which i trimmed down...pero taste lang yon. Yung 04 version mas maganda daw ang lever at may mas magandang color options sila. (but i learned that marzocchi distributor has not brought in any 04 stock yet...bummer)
To sum up, i would definitely buy this fork again for XC and aggressive XC...its tough, it feels good, its effective, its not that expensive for a performance fork, and its a Zoke! ;D ;D ;D
