The course was hilly and there was a bit of a crosswind on the descent and a strong headwind on a stretch of flat, then undulating road back up to the finish line. One loop was 16 miles and our category had to do two. I guess because of pre race jitters, or this being my first ever road race, I forgot my water bottles when we hit the starting line--a fellow racer was nice enough to point it out. I then had to ride back down the hill to get my water bottle and sprint back up. I missed the start by, I'm guessing between 30 seconds to a minute. Out of 52 riders I was able to muster up 36th place. Chasing was tough! My friend Antonio did well and came in 13th place. I'm happy not coming in last and even happier that I liked it. I now know that I need to ride not to just log the miles but to maybe totally change my training program. My semester is almost done and I can really focus on training then. Save the planet, ride a bicycle! Antonio Yours truly. The bike did well, the engine needs to train harder ;D Antonio on rollers Beautiful landscape, super tough course ;D Thanks for viewing! Ride on!

Hey Pedro, congratulations on your first road race! And racing for Cycle World (is it a bike shop?) at that, nice team kit (but I like TK better ) And that finish was not too bad at all, considering you got delayed at the start and had to catch up (that's really hard!) I hope you won't be neglecting your mtbs, or Jr will have a fit ;D

Nice one Pedro! Love the bike. Bring it over here when you visit, and leave it as well so you won't have to worry about extra baggage costs.
I'll babysit it for free!

man, mountainbiking and running shape does not = road biking shape... i went road riding today for the first time in 15 months... up Bogus Basin (the local ski hill) and after going up about 7 or 8 miles and 2500 feet, my back was hurting too much to continue... Dang!

Dang! you said it, very different, but I like road racing better because I don't have to walk any sections ( technical riding skill nonexistent) ;D, I just suffer many times over.
