Guys just a reminder.
I went to Binangonan yesterday. On my way home to Makati passing the traffic at San Juaquin to Buting some rider on a scooter bike went stumbling down before me. The scenario is while I'm passing and zig zagging along the traffic to pass the jeepnies and trucks and other private vehicles, I heard a big crashing sound on my back. When I look behind, the poor rider's down on the ground and his scooter too. I did check if there's somebody passing before i go, but the other rider says "iniwasan nga kita e kasi bigla kang sumulpot" So I check on him if he's okay from the "semplang"...Thanks God no ones hurt. And I'm gone, pedal my trembling knees home.
When on the road, watch carefully for the other vehicles passing behind you before turning left or right. Specially on the right co'z many a motorcycle rider overtake on right. We get lucky co'z the scooter ain't coming that fast. What if it is fast and it's not just a scooter but a truck? Yari na...

The way drivers of motorcycles and other motorized two wheelers drive these days, I alway check left and right, even if I'm in the center lane or outmost lane.
My two cents, they consider themselves motorized bicycles, able to disregard traffic rules and regulations, which they officially fall under. Making a U-turn at pedestrain breaks in traffic barriers, crossing intersections at pedestrian crossings, driving on sidewalks, counterflowing, etc. It's not only a pain in the butt for drivers, but also pedestrians (and siklistas). I had a motorcycle before, but I rode it like a car.
Now, when I'm on the road with my bike, I keep an eye out for motorsikilistas!

This practice of wearing headphones/ipod while biking is really dangerous. On the street, it is quite obvious with jeepneys zooming and scooters zipping. On the trail, it's also a hazard.
I actually stay away from MTBikers using Ipods or other earphone-device while trailriding. I've seen too much accidents happen because they are too preoccupied with the music and not focused on the trail or their other co-riders. Worst case is that they become hazard on the trail since they are not aware of what's happening around them. They suddenly brake or turn not aware of the biker behind or coming towards them.
One bad incident is in Maarat with one guy bombing down with his ipods blaring in his ear and he didn't hear the motorcycle zooming up... head on! The guy has not really recovered from the trauma of the accident and has since stopped biking.

Yeah! No matter how smart the biker is.... using headphones/mp3 while biking is a disadvantage....
So please, if you cannot stop yourself from using headphones/mp3 while biking, please do so, BUT PLEASE, DON'T TURN IT ON! ;D

this is the ever familiar scenario on a traffic jam... dont mind that guy, i fairly believe he took bad judgment and met that fumble himself, glad you did well next time, when there's a banqueta, hop it!!! hahaha, much safer, but please give pedestrians their own right of way ive met enough motorcyclist issues but just like you Mon, i own one and ride it like a car, even overtake like a car, not even sipping into the rightmost lane, side banks and shoulder, i dont even make "paunahan" with the others on stoplight... you're actually one of the few sound ones ive heard so far, proud of ya

thanks for the compliment! Just yesterday, FX in front of me stopped and the door opened just when a siklista was passing on the right. Kapaw! Cyclist hits the door, falls down on the sidewalk. Out steps a really (I mean really!) beautiful chinita in tight jeans and a sleeveless blouse. Takes a look at the rider. Rider smiles, picks up the bike and goes his merry way. Moral of the story: At least get a phone number man! ;D

Back to topic gentlemanyaks ;D!! It seems that drivers are more giving when it comes to women bikers. My wife ( ), who's been biking to work several times already, noted this. So far, no mishaps, always stopping, looking and listening. No MP3 player for her!

So far, no mishaps, always stopping, looking and listening. this seems true in the Philippine setting. i purposely wear fink jersey plying around the city and these drivers tend to sneak onto the side slowly only to find out " Ay, lalake pala" (Oh, It's He-Man, not Sheera! ;D). yeah these buses, jeepneys, privy cars take some care passing by girl bikers. i don a cute ponytail btw and that's very deceiving, i think ;D
