@lamok
Yeah, come to think of it, what can you say? How about these (just out "BANG!" after each reply):
"Iputok mo" - Okay! Sinabi mo eh!
"Please don't kill me, I have two small kids"- Di nila kailangan ng masamang ehemplo!
"Is that a real gun?" - I'll shoot you first then you TELL me!
"Matapang ka lang..." - Talaga! Kaya etong sa'yo!
Ha-ha-ha. Just kidding!

Just curious , does anyone really carry during rides? where do you guys carry it? sa jersey? The last time I brought one along was long ago during a reverse hidden valley explo ride I brought a 9mm but didnt bring any water 2 hrs into the ride I wanted to shoot myself I just dont find it effective on the bike, especially when it's inside the hyd pack If you've got time to spot danger , then you got time to quickly ride away Parang I keep on repeating myself ulyanin na nga yata when i was just a newbie rider in batangas i used to carry (9mm lang so its lighter) and my "mantra" was " better to carry one and not need it, than needing one and not having it". , brought it in a belt back , probably like what savers is using now. you dont notice the weight at the start of the ride but as the day progresses the added weight around the waist begins to be obvious. so after some rides ( and a lot of sore "balakang" ) decided not to bring one along. mantra changed to " violence begets violence" and "theres safety in numbers" ;D ;Dhehehe I've replied to this thread before pero di nag post I have the same belt bag , black , w/ velcro w/c has since been replaced by big zippers The probem w/ it , is that it's obvious you are carrying a gun Plus the bag will rip open if you run w/ it while the front pokets are filled w/ junk w/c was why I replaced them w/ zippers

Last week i used my bike as service to palengke with my wife. (angkas ko sya). there's a stray dog sitting along the way. Malayo pa lang i told my wife to handle me the night stick, for precautionary measure, we didn't realize "na aangilan kami nung" stray dog," for heaven's sake napatalon ng ala sa oras ang asawa ko and my wife got very nervous, i stop and open up my night stick. then it runs away scared. I think it really applies my gadget to that kind of unexpected scenario.

this is one of the best examples of why sometimes carrying of gun seems reasonable...a bit long but its worth it.

night sticks is safe than fan knife or gun, if you caught by cops you'll charge of "illegal position of deadly weapon" right? You can carry night stick wherever you go without worrying.

It's true. Actually, the americans were initially armed with .38 Specials Revolvers and they soon found out that it was not enough to stop a "huramentado's" attack. They were actually killing them but not stopping them in their tracks. In a matter of speaking the huramentados where already dead but they didn't know it yet... gave them time to actually cut off the heads of the american shooter before dying. What they needed was a man-stopper. The .45 was a heavy SOB of a cartridge. It did not penetrate because of its lower velocity but it did put the hurumentado DOWN because of it's WEIGHT. Not particularly dead but definitely DOWN! In other words, once you get hit by a 45 you'd think you're already dead...
.[/quote] its true that .45 was especially made for the "juramentados", those guys way back then performed rituals involving the wrapping of their bodies with abaca ropes that bullets of lower caliber cant put them down, even if they are hit, the ropes prevented their blood to flow out thus they dont weaken easily which enable them to reach out their targets swinging with and hacking them with their kris (knives- they usually carry two) wait a minute, were talking about shooting those who will waylaid us, what about those who will shoot us? maybe the juramentado ritual can be part of our precaution, how about making the wrapping of abaca ropes around our body part of our biking "get up"? syempre kung aabutin lang ng dis oras ng gabi sa kalye. ;D

i have a gun of my own, but i never really thought of bringing it with me, takot ako eh, baka kasi magamit ko. i have a .38 cal. spl. S&W, to be read as Smith and Welding. sa kalawang pa lang lethal weapon na the more when you hammer and throw it pa. hehe
if the badguys have no guns it will be easy for bikers to defend themselves, you have your weapon that you are not aware of, in fact you have been building them for years, thats lethal, training lang on the proper way to use them.... its even harder than night sticks... im referring to your legs!!! sipa, tadyak, flying kick, use your bike as a shield. watch UFC youll see how they use their legs to kick their opponents down, pedro rizo, i think is the one adept in that aspect.

as i understand... it is legal for us Filipinos to bring Pepper spray...
aside from retractable nightstick which is quite heavy, mas madali gamitin ang pepper spray... aim at the face and press.... they will easily get irritated or somewhat agitated but you'll have plenty of time to run away...
using a nightstick you need to make a good contact... mostly, evil doers are also ready for this situations... they also know how to defend themselves....
using a Tazer to electrify them... not really a good move.... y coz most Loco's here have backups... may watcher, may screener, may taga-tusok ng icepick, etc... wais ang pinoy eh...
Tear gas... effective before but also to the person spraying it... yeah aim and push but pati ikaw apektado specially kung mahangin at mali paggamit mo...
======
well i guess being alert and cautious is the best way to avoid this evil people..
avoiding places that is reported or with lots of incidents that u heard of would be the very best move... look for an alternate route... or go fast... or faster.....
like i go home late from an urban-nightride in my dh rig... i step up the phase going home assaulting lanes and bangketas and trees and anything that block my way with all my skill to drop or bunnyhop or berm or drift etc...... i don't stop... y? mahirap na eh... lalo n kung madilim at marami exkwaters dami locos eh...
careful always guys!

For me its the pepper spray. I always carry one when I ride. good for the stray dogs, dunks, addicts who wanted to grab your bikes. Never used it against guns though..your life is more valuable than the most expensive bike.

Guys you could actually build a cheap taser (stun gun/electrocution gadget) that should work effectively, you could use one of those fly zappers that look like a tennis racket and hook it up to a big enough capacitor and BOOM...DIY Stun gun.

if there are multiple attackers... what is the sense of bringing up self defense weapons??? or something like before having your weapon out of you pocket the mob has already pointing something on to you... the tip in here is when you encounter this kinds of tragedy, stay calm, think fast, because you will never know... todays mobs are more likely to kill their victims before getting what they want... so better to avoid riding alone... ride in tandem... think twice before entering in an alley... deadly assasin weapons is my specialty... want some tips and advises? hehe just pm me... ;D maybe i could help on safe riding... ;D

Trust your instinct, gut feeling, even sixth sense...
I've averted troubles, accidents, confrontations by listening to my inner senses.
Sometimes when something is not right or something wrong will happen, you will feel it. I do most of the times.

Luckily the only threats I've ever felt when out riding alone come from hecklers (in vehicles or on foot) who keep their distance and who should just be ignored anyway! Pepper spray for emergency measures, yes but I hope I never have to use it, and I guess I'm fortunate to be able to bike in areas where I don't feel the need for it. Sometimes what worries me more than my own safety is, "What if some one tries to grab my bike from me?" Hahaha! And I'm sure a lot of the men and women in this forum can relate to that!

Sometimes when you feel uneasy and worried it is actually a signal from our inner senses, I dont know how to explain it properly coz I dont know such terms, medical or even psychological. But we have it and Im sure everybody felt something prior to an accident or a mugging. Being aware is the first line of defense. Observe a baby, even a new born baby, even if you silently close the door that even an adult will not notice it and the baby will move or startled from sleep. We have in us.

As far as my riding experience is concerned, I have encountered three stray dogs along banlat road this dogs gone madly barking and tried to bite me and might have this RABIES. At that time, i don't have any gadgets to use as my protection. I quickly jumped off and used my bike as a my shield, and I looked for a stone or something i can throw or scare them away. At that time i felt the adrenalin rush all over my body. Awareness is best not just for muggers but also from other elements of nature.

I saw this belt bag that conceals a full size gun very well and is very stable when worn You can even use it for running unlike other beltbags that sag I dont carry a gun , but for those who do , you might look at these Maybe if your planning a funride sa Jolo I've worn it sa mall , sa checkpoint subok lang , so far no one had a clue ( until it becomes popular ) I dont know if these would be available sa gunshow Edit - the pack and the gun is not mine Though I did get my own pack , for my kikay kit

Wow this thread just keeps going. Awesome!
I think when it comes to carrying "self-defense gadgets", we have to look at the matter from one angle alone: If you are cornered & there is nowhere to go, will that gadget be enough to protect you?
The truth is that if a person or group of people are bent on hurting you, you have to be trained. I've seen people get hit by a 2x2 on the head or stabbed multiple times who end up getting more pissed that they're still able to hurt the other person just as bad. So hitting them with a stick, knife or shooting them must be done accurately. Yep, I say carry a weapon.
This is the way I look at it: Person A has a weapon & Person B doesn't. Both Person A & Person B could do de-escalation, use their instincts or gut feeling to avoid trouble & both have good temper. BUT when all the methods of avoidance fail & both of them got cornered, who has the BETTER chance of walking out alive?
How many times do you have to be attacked before you decide to train & carry a weapon on you?
