Do you think you can make a difference?
We are now on our way to the 9th Tour of the Fireflies, an annual adovcacy ride promoting the bicycle for clean air and sustainable communities, as well as for a healtheir lifestyle. From less than 300 cyclists in 1999, an MMDA estimate of 5,000 cyclist joined us last year, biking a little less than 50kms around 7 cities and municipalities in Metro Manila. We also continue lobby work with commercial centers, local governments and international institutions to make Metro Manila a little bit more bike friendly.
We need all the help we can get to make bike advocacy work a little bit easier. We need new firefly larvaes, who can eventually become full pledged fireflies to be part of the core group of the Firefly Brigade. You don;t necessarily need to be a regular commuterto be member What is imprtant is that you believe in what the Firefly Brigade does and you want to make a difference. For more information about the Firefly Brigade, please visit our website at
www.fireflybrigade.org/
There will be an orientation for those who would like to be part of the core group of the Firefly Brigade on February 24,2007(Saturday), 9:00am at 169 Kamais Road, Quezon City. After the orientation, should you wish to become a larvae (applicant) core-group member of the Firefly Brigade, a small application fee of P300 is requested for expenses to be incurred during the application process.
