makati, not much choice on the route, although you can take....great i don't know the name of the street. if you're going towards amari, the street is parallel buendia on the right side, it's one way and no traffic lights, it joins buendia before you reach taft ave. but i think the street starts at the extension of ayala ave. you can also take jupiter, fewer cars than buendia. i think that's metropolitan avenue. it starts where jupiter ends and crosses pasong tamo? but i think that passes through a squatter's area before you reach buendia? medyo afraid ako dun, too many kids and dogs about, and tambays. if i'm on your location, i'll take the longer route with a lot of climbs, he he he. from edsa, turn right to guadalupe, keep on the road until you cross edsa under the bridge, climb the market, where the jeeps go, continue climbing towards kalayaan. turn right at kalayaan, climb the flyover, downhill right smack in buendia workout ito! ;D isn't the flyover dangerous?

BRIONNE - what route do you take pala going back? pag galing kami sa amari, from buendia we turn left at pasong tamo, then right at bagtikan (usually empty road ito) lusot sa kamagong/ayala area, then you just swerve a bit to the left to get to jupiter. that's the intersection of ayala/south ave and jupiter. you can also take south ave and turn right to kalayaan. at least you avoid the buses and jeeps at buendia.

(or biglang liko!!! ;D ;D ;D)

whoopi, i've tried the fly over, it's okay as long as you stay on the right most side of the lanes. if there are two vehicles approaching abreast, that's when you go overdrive, he he he. g.b.b, going back, i take almost the same route as whoopi, although i go straight to kalayaan, i'm more comfortable with jeeps than silent roads. then i turn left at makati ave, then take the bridge. btw, i can't chase as much as i used to, totally out of shape. there was a time i'm leading a pack of about 5 roadies in amari, and i'm on a light DH bike, grrr. i do take advantage of full suspension when we get to the railroad tracks and the potholes from south superhighway to taft, he he he.

good day to you bike-to-work people of PinoyMTBiker! the rainy days are upon us and this may be a good time to talk about rain gears for the B2W people.
today i went to work and tested out my new yellow plastic raincoat! i tought i'd give it a little "product review"
Duration Product Used: 30-45 minutes Purchased At: Marikina Market Price: a little above P100 (my wife didn't give exact price) Strengths: Keeps the rain out Weaknesses: Keeps your sweat in, it sticks to your skin therefore limiting movement Similar Products Tried: several sports jacket Bike Setup: cheap FS bike Bottom Line: a good alternative to the tried and tested black garbage bag. i wouldn't wear this unless it is really pouring (cooler weather) because it makes you sweat. the plastic buttons are a pain to attach and remove. the plastic smell reminds me of my elementary days... when i had a hard time attaching and removing those buttons.

I try to avoid riding my bike on a rainy day coz it's a little bit risky. roads & bangketas' are slippery, drivers don't really care for bikers kaya pag nadaanan ka ayun "Splash!" ang dirty. pwede ka pa magkasakit kasi malamig tapos mainit katawan mo (in the sense na nababasa ka ng ulan, dehins yung iniisip nyo! hehehe). water gets in your eyes kasi di naman pwede naka-shades. also a problem for people wearing eyeglasses (like me). Almost everythings' wet. Brakes also does'nt seem to work well specially pag basa or dumaan ka sa baha.
If ever you really need to bike from work even if it's raining, INGATS KAYO (TAYO), Magdala ng extrang damit, Balutin ng plastic ang gamit, Bring Proper Tools, and Uminom ng VITAMINS para lumakas ang resistensya laban sa sakit! DAHIL BAWAL ANG MAGKASAKIT!!!

biked to work to day (FINALLLY!) my 7th since i had a taste of it. ironically i was in a hurry that since i cant find my cat-eye, i biked without it -- i got lost in FTI's maze-like uphills and downhills finding my way out of it --
the 20km ride that used to be 53-54mins was timed at 60.. sayang precious minutes..
aniweis..
after biking to work, its working to bike mode now! ;D

hello bikers,
i already sold my first bike to my opismate, ayun nakahanap ng kasabay..hehehehe Bike to work sarap nga eh, our travel time if going to work 30 - 40 mins, route namin is going to boni then labas ng crossing then megamall tapos emerald ave., puro pataas and going home less than 30 mins same route pababa naman. i bike to work kung maganda panahon, kc hirap na you might get sick and disgrasya rin. cool nga ayos ng porma. Sad kc walang shower kaya alalay lang sa pagpadyak para d masyado pagpawisan, alcohol or cologne lang ang katapat.hehehe...Nightride yun kc our time is 10pm to 7am.
Ingat lang lagi guys..

let's see, i got caught once in cotton t-shirt and maong, not too good, water absorbent, he he he. anyway, if the weather is bad, normally i wear roadie attire. tight fitting jersey and shorts, no need for raincoats for me. but if you want to wear a raincoat, i suggest wearing a jersey inside, it wicks the sweat faster than cotton and it dries quickly. just my 2 cents

anthrax, you mean you don't use any rain gear? so, that means you arrive at work soaking wet... hmmm.. i don't think my boss will let me do that. that's why i wear a raincoat and just leave it outside the office. and i followed your advice (wearing jersey inside raincoat) it really is much more comfortable than cotton t-shirts.

he he he, i'm fortunate i haven't been caught in the rain going to office. we have a small CR where i park the bike (basement) so even if i'm soaking wet, i just change to dry clothes before going up.

Bike to work? Not a bad idea considering the high cost of jeep fare nowadays. I really wanted it to be a daily routine but unfortunately, weather doesn't permit. It seems that it would always start raining just a few minutes before I go out. I think whatever I money I would save in doing this... I'd probably use to buy upgrades for my bike!!! ;D

Take it from me. "Those who can conquer winter can conquer spring, if you sit idle in winter and wait for spring you wont make any progress," at 1st I hesitate biking in the rain but when I tried it hell I sure do bike a lot in the rain.
