Sir maybe you can try it during weekends first, just to have time to think if biking to work is ideal for you (co'z you're home is too far to work) and also to explore alternative routes that may be suitable for your travel and to measure the distance and time from home to work. This is my first step before I bike to work. suggestion lang po based on my experience......Um.. do you have a shower room to your work just incase?

we do have a shower room. i've also done bike to work twice in my lifetime pero grabe, wasted like hell. maybe it's my fitness level. but i definitely want to do this kahit 3 times a week.

I've read this in past issue of Bicycling Magazine.... 1. Try to cover half the distance. If you have a friend or relative within the vicinity halfway, leave your bike there then ride a public transport for the rest of the trip then pick your bike on your way home then ride the rest of the journey. 2. Do one-way of the whole journey. Leave your bike at your place of work then ride home the next day. If you don't have shower facilities at work, stock-up on wet wipes. Wipe yourself clean after the ride with this. Should be enough to keep you fresh assuming that you take a shower before the ride (but considering the pollution in our cities, it may not be enough, hehehe).

Keep on practicing sir, i was like you before every other day or 3x a week bike to work, then I became a daily bike commuter. Sir if you have time, maybe you can practice biking 10 to 15 km a day or it depends on how far you can go. So that your body will adjust on your biking activity.

Me I would like to also, everyday commute sana, but the problem is, no shower at the office during day shifts im in a corporate attire kaya dyahe. Any suggestions? I'm not that maarte naman, I just want to be well groomed when I come in the office. Fresh look and all, you know what I mean guys.
From home to makati and back mga 22 kms. na rin so sayang ang miles in 5 days I can range 100+ not including my weekend rides pa kung sakali.

Sir I travel 26km back and fourth, I also experienced biking without a shower room at work before. Use a back pack that will fit your things such as your clothes, extra shirt will be nice but this rainy season I suggest that your clothes are wraped in a plastic and a raincoat too (I always have one). Also have an stock of wet wipes like sir Bee mentioned, me? I always bring a pair of wet towel naka plastic para tipid. Bring also a rexona or axe mini stick, tooth brush and a toothpase, dry towel, extra socks and underwear but its up to you, a soap,.........Umm.... and your Baon, para mas tipid. Dont forget to bring basic tools for your bike and spare tires, you may use a shimano or any bag that can be attached to the frame to place your tools there so your back pack will not be that heavy and I bring 3 spare tires just to be safe..... Did I miss something? That's what I do before. Guys you can add something on this one.

no problem in doin it often as long as it doesnt rain......and commuting(taking cab or bus) here in macapagal highway in pasay late at night will just cause you big big trouble....... 3 of our employees reported were victim of snatchers and "hold uppers" and one was shot with a pistol good thing it was just a small cut on his finger and still managed to run and the other 2 were robbed so i prefer biking goin to work coz 1st is for gas saving and parking too and 2nd iwas holdup and lastly to keep me fit. not really just for the sake of biking to work but making money is really hard nowadays. di na kasi ganun kalaki magbigay mga beki eh hehehehe **wink**

Our office is very strict with the dress code as it is one of the Top5 for 2006's Fortune500 company for Engg Design - and I used to work in Training and Development (as in i have to walk the talk) though now I shifted back to Engineering... You just have to be at the office a bit earlier so that you'd have enough time to refresh.. one way for me is 20Km as the route is from Makati to Alabang (As previously posted...) via Service Road pa yun... so, follow the advice given by Bee and make some of your own thru the experiences you will gain by biking to work... its fun. lalo na pag uwian na and the rain would come... nyahahaha!!

actually i never did it even once as i'm also taking my wife to her office daily - so i have no choice but to use the car besides, no good bike parking in our office building and no shower room too perhaps, the best thing to do is look for a non-working wife and employer with good bike parking and with shower facilities - so i could bike to work ;D ;D ;D

Wow very very helpful, convincing and creative tips! alabshu guys!!! I'll really consider it, backpacks may not work for me or else I'll have 5 different backpacks per day since I sweat heavily, my arms, legs and on rare occasions even my palms sweat hehe (turn off pa naman sa girls, daw ah ;p)
I think I might get sort of a rack i could put at the back of the bike where I can place the bags on both sides as I've seen in one bike site. I'll be needing front lights din siguro. Thanks ulet guys.Ü

I think it would be tough if your office doesn't have a shower or a changing place. Maybe there's a "cheap" gym nearby where you can take a shower. Try to be a member, then tell them "I'll just pay for the shower" hehehe
By the way I also use the tabo system.. heh heh

not really just for the sake of biking to work but making money is really hard nowadays. di na kasi ganun kalaki magbigay mga beki eh hehehehe **wink** This is so true I can't believe how big a chunk our gas expense cuts into our income. Bike commuting (though not everyday for me but at least twice week) really helps lessen this amount.

I'd wish I could have job like yours which entails you to bike going to your workplace. But perhaps it's just some recreational stuff for me though...

i find it more fun to bike when it's raining! hehe... the only hassle is you have to wipe/lube the chain immediately afterwards otherwise it'll rust.
regarding office clothes, try to see if you can find a space in your office where you can leave your office clothes there, like a spare cabinet, or your locker, etc.
