i share the same view with patrick. btw, i dont think the was an overkill...that's exactly the way to do it...come in with an overwhelming force...otherwise, the outcome might have been a little different...and those media peeps complaining how there were treated..i'd say, shut up! you're just showing how ignorant most of you are. just my 2 cents. I'll add another 2 cents Lamok ;D nice one...these media people should go to Basilan and let them stay in between the Abu Sayyaf and military and tell us that they are after press freedom!

I think those media personnel should have gone out of the hotel the moment they were told to.The lespu could not operate with them inside..I know its their job to cover the story ,get the news ,but what if they were held hostage? they should be charged with obstruction of justice due to failure to cooperate..Are they not aware that the magdalo's are using them as human shields?
I was a fan of senator trillanes before but from what he have shown that day made me disappointed. If they really plan of going after the Government they should have planned it well.Like real soldiers do..my 2 cents..

I thought there would be a glorious shootout, Trillanes' Last Stand, but alas just a damaged hotel lobby, a busload of pathetic media personnels, and another group of "wannabes" who lacked good judgment and showed poor leadership. The Philippines deserves better than this and better than what it has.

It s actually notable that the clergy was in it from the start of this coup attempt Usually they wait and decide with clear command control from the archbishop. makes you wonder who call s the real shot in the RC Church nowadays ...I miss Sin
Yeah Trillanes is flaky ...nyet ..worse: "flimsy" is the word...and My Golly! he had to revert to his "11 Million voted for me" speech...pathetic
Im not such an administration fan but this one (GMA) deserves better opponents
I call their act "political-military slapstick"

well...but i still believe in Trillanes...his cause for this fight... ;D me as well! GMA should better get her a$$ off in Malacanang! problem with this is...who's your bet to give this country a better chance? trillanes should have studies his history better. 7 coup attempts in the past 20 years and the government is still there. some of these attempts is honasan was involved with gunfire, taking of 2 camps, a television station. now that's something. but going to a hotel (did he even pay???) then saying something like "we could not put into our conscience, hurting the civilians (reporters) because of the government actions" what the lame@ss...

why don't he give this country a favor and just shut up! agree...he's just making things difficult for us. come to think of it, anyone who sits in malacañang will do the same thing, why not wait for his turn instead of rocking the boat and would set us back 2 to 3 years before we can recover from the effects that he has caused. oh, did i say he almost destroyed our wedding plans this december!

maxbuwayaActually, those plastic handcuffs are extra large Zip-Ties. They've been in use by SWAT Teams, etc. for more than a decade to restrain felons. They hurt if drawn real tight. Anyway, I wish I had entered PMA. then I would be Trilllanes' mistah. I'd give him a good, sharp whack in the nape (babatukan ko) to knock some sense back into him, ha-ha-ha. I wonder...

They've been in use by SWAT Teams, etc. for more than a decade to restrain felons. They hurt if drawn real tight. they're disposable and less expensive expensive than those metal cuffs... some folks can open a handcuff faster than force-opening a car's door... no keys to keep or lose also...

The question here guys is - Who would you rather believe?
Esperon, Razon, Barias OR Trillanes, Lim, Querubin
Bunye, Puno OR Nemenzo, Guingona, B. Labayen, F. Reyes.
I read this in the papers and it got me thinking. I'd rather take plotters words as we all know what is behind the NBN deal, who made real money there, and who will be left holding the bag (and pay all our debt) other than US poor Filipinos.
Maybe the rest of the nation should make a stand against all the graft and corruption we all so blindly ignore.

Actually to your Actually I actually meant that their not babies, so they deserve to be restrained. Am not talking about the Material Used. Because the other poster says that Its lespu Brutality because they were restrained. And notice that some Zip ties are not Zip all the way? Some Mediamen who were tied can easily slip their hands out. hehehehe

Right on the money . . .
POLITICAL TIDBITS Too little emphasis on media responsibility
By Belinda Olivares-Cunanan
"But all the complaints about curtailment of press freedom sound hollow to many people, including this columnist. For didnft we see such an unbridled press conference by Trillanes et al. under full media coverage? Many citizens found it disconcerting, in fact, that the lespu didnft do anything as the rebels talked their heads off, although it was good they didnft, for now therefs hordes of disillusioned voters of Trillanes.
It must also be stressed that the lespu patiently called the desks of all newspaper and TV-radio newsroom and pleaded with them to get their reporters out of the Manila Pen by 3 p.m., as counter-operations were to begin. But the media just ignored that plea and for the next three hours, they stuck by the rebels, with some plainly heard over TV saying, gWefll protect you.h Sadly, many of our media practitioners seem too obsessed with their freedom gto do our jobh but therefs too little emphasis on mediafs responsibility. One such responsibility involves cooperation with lespu to protect public interest against enemies of the state."

There's more than a grain of salt in what Belinda Cunanan said. And to think that she's a journalist herself.
The media's insistence to stay there is not about an atruistic duty to report. Its just plain cut-throat competition between the networks!
The media people say they had a job to do? Well so did the lespu! And freedom of the press ends when obstruction of justice begins!
When the bullets fly, they will make no distinction between soldier, reporter or bystander. The networks are howling because their bratty reporters were Zip-Tied?! Ha!
They would have raised a bigger howl if a reporter was shot.

Hehehe they "strapped" the media men but they admitted ( lespu force ) if not for them ( the media, particularly the TV )they did not noticed what's going on there,
so media's intelligence is more effective than their lespu intelligence?
and why is only ABS-CBN the invited station, no GMA 7, ABC 5 on their hearing?

glockbiker, you said it better than belinda cunanan hehehe! ;D
i work with a media company as well and the way i see it talagang may pakakamali.
btw, in fairness, i think GMA7 handled their people well during this incident...they ordered their people out...only one of their peeps underwent "processing"...i heard he's a technical guy na inabot when he was still in the process of moving cables and equipment out.
