I think they are watching too much Rocky movies. I always thought that Mayor Atienza was cool to put Evilio Javier's statue at baywalk. Being an obscure pre EDSA revolution hero, that was kinda cool (Hes the guy sitting on a bench with Ninoy behind him).
But putting a statue for Manny is way-way-way-way overboard. Over acting. Maybe if he saves us from terrorists using his punch and dies in the process then thats when he deserves it.

am not sure about the statue...dapat yata sa gensan...but i saw a big statue of a carabao in luneta na dehins ko man lang kilala hehehe! ;D
i see manny as someone just like us..doing everything he can to earn his living and live a decent life...calling someone a monkey for being good in what he does..his trade..eh medyo sintunado yata.
the mayor's agenda is a different story though.

bka gusto ni girly na ipagpa-tayo din sya ng munomento/rebulto for her achievement in writing such articles... wow!
i don't know with "some" (dehins po 'lahat' so wag ma-offend....) PEYUPS students napaka-radical or somewhat i don't know... kinda stupz.. or whatever you call it, i can't find the right word, it's much better for thm to focus on thier studies and become the best without having to offend people, violate rules , etc... they'll do better in life if they become more peaceful and do the right things in life...
innocence and ignorance are two different things.... you know? baka you don't know? check it in webster.com
nyahahahahaha!!!!

That girl must be traumatized now. She deserves it, though. Calling one of the world's greatest boxers a monkey? Boxing not a sport? The comments were right - she is an elitist (wannabe I should say).

When MP said on national television: "Ang laban na ito ay para say iyo" (meaning: this fight is for you, the Filipino people), and Eric Morales said something like: I'm fighting for my own glory....
If my life were put in danger and I was put in a fight, I think my thoughts would be my own safety and in that of my family. I don't think world peace would be in the top of my mind when I'm being held up at gunpoint...
Doesn't it make you wonder why some people starts to talk like a politician when a simple, straight, sincere answer would do?
I have great respect for MP, he deserves the glory. He has the gift, he worked hard, and he is on top of the boxing world.
Let's see what success in sports, mixed with politics, will do to him... Abangan! (Suspense!)

Just saw MP in the news last night.
What a sad sight...
A lot of people are gathering outside his house just to ask for "balatos" (I guess). Grabe! There was even a moment where people were handing Manny envelopes (para siguro mas malaki) while he is in his vehicle.
I salute Manny for not blowing his brains out with these instances and for still wanting to give "balatos". But for how long I don't know. I hope na "dehins siya magsawa" for offering his fights to the Filipino people... who (for some) are just taking advantage of him (and his prize).

What does "Absolute power corrupts" mean? In the movie LOTR, humans were portrayed as the weakest creatures on earth. So easily blinded, tempted, seduced by power. In the hunger for power, we'd kill each other! It is just too bad that a gifted athlete (a rare one at that) would be distracted by showbiz and politics. Don't expect much in our performances at the 2008 Olympics, we're busy plunging precious time and resources on a different race.

What does "Absolute power corrupts" mean? "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely." This is Lord Acton's warning that political power is the most serious threat to liberty. An observation that a person’s sense of morality lessens as his power increases.
