We brad have the exact same views... there's no use believing in something that isnt proven to exist... for me, doing good, is much more better than praying for hours... why waste time doing nothing but talking to an invisible man when u couldve spent it helping a isck person or feeding hungry people on the streets... live and let live... Yeah, but that something, or someone, that cannot be proven to exist is also someone who cannot be disproven to exist. It works both ways. Like you, though, I would rather do something good than praying for hours... then again, who ever said you have to pray for hours? Even a Sunday mass (Catholic) only takes an hour at most. That still leaves you with 167 hours worth of doing good deeds in a week. That is the reason they call it FAITH. It is belief in something that cannot be seen yet cannot be proven or disprovento exist. Different people w/ different religions or beliefs have their own God. I just chose to follow the Catholic Church thus, belief & faith in God the Father & His son, Jesus Christ. My 2 cents.

it's not an anti-christ movie. if it's anything it's anti-religion. but it should be an eye opener for people. it aims for discussions (like this) to take place, and maybe even renew the faith of it's readers/watchers.

Joes is right it is suppose to stimulate your thinking. The story is anti - religion in the sense that people screwed up with the facts to fool the people to serve themselves probably. IMHO if it were true then Christ's life would be more appealing to people now. Have you seen the National Geographic special on Da Vinci Code?

If we can follow the Golden Rule, then all is well. Religion to my belief is created by men. If only the bible can be change, I would asked to insert something like " that whoever enrich themselves using God's name will go to hell or should be vanished on the face of the earth".

just for discussion: i have problems dealing with the credibility of the bible. it's convinient for me to be catholic just so as i could stop asking questions (research is hard). but i really can't help but ask alot of questions.
like this: why do bad things happen to good people?
and please, no answers like, predestined events. it conflicts with freewill.
also, with faith. i wouldn't put all my money on something (figuratively) without analizing it first.

Tha's one Our Father and 3 Glory Be's for you for asking that question Joes ;D ;D....but seriously, I don't believe that bad things happen to good people(only), I'm pretty sure that bad things can happen to ALL people. It's just that there are too many good people here,.......so, Bad Thing + Many good people = bad things happen to good people. Faith?...Faith is the way to go when your brain has reached its liquefied state after so much analyses and you still doesn't have a clear answer.

Somebody please tell me the percentage of catholic, iglesia ni cristo, protestant, and sabbath believers in our country?
How many catholic, I.N.C., protestant and sabbath are in prison now?
How many of them are prostitute or pimps?
Why am I not in prison and instead, living peacefully with my family and friends since I don't believe in any of those religion?
Why does churches have "tiangges" and vendors on their entrances when clearly, jesus tore them apart according to bible?
Why do priests tolerates and benefit from P.C.S.O. and P.A.G.C.O.R. when, in their religion, gambling is a taboo?
Why do churches pay no taxes?[/glow]

Hi Joes,
There is this one movie that may give you an answer to your question why do bad (evil) things happen to people and why does God allow it?
Please watch the The Exorcism of Emily Rose.
I have my own interpretation of the movie and it helped me strengthen my faith.

my questions are philosophically based. i'm not trying to be the arsehole atheist here. i really don't openly discuss these things but it's a nice exercise to do so every now and then. semi-OT: anyone here familiar with the occult?

ok. this is going to piss someone off for sure. but i'm posting it anyway. ;D douglas coupland, author, when asked why he likened google to god: Not so much Google itself, but the way you feel after using it really intensely for a long time. Suddenly you know the answer to everything. I used to be one of those people who was going through the reference section of the local library. I used to phone up Merriam-Webster in Springfield, Massachusetts — by the way, they loved it — and ask a question about a neologism or something. Now you just burn out on knowing the answer to everything. This is what God must be like knowing everything. How many times have I been in a restaurant and wanted to clap my hands and have Google come down from ceiling and solve an argument?Says Alan Cohen, a V.P. of Airespace, a new Wi-Fi provider on wi-fi and google: "If I can operate Google, I can find anything. And with wireless, it means I will be able to find anything, anywhere, anytime. Which is why I say that Google, combined with Wi-Fi, is a little bit like God. God is wireless, God is everywhere and God sees and knows everything. Throughout history, people connected to God without wires. Now, for many questions in the world, you ask Google, and increasingly, you can do it without wires, too."

dont know much about God or religion...but when i look at people...they who have i think real faith in God look a lot happier...you can see it in their faces...must be working for them. on the other hand people including those who expressly say they dont believe in God..well, pati na rin yung others who say they believe in God but living but you dont see it in them hehehe! ...eh medyo dehins sila ganun kasaya sa buhay nila...in fact some the most bitter persons i know belong to this group..maaring experiences sa buhay nila ang dala sa kanila dito.. dont know. i'm not generalizing here...this is purely based on my personal observations.

also...why do good people experience bad things if they're good??? maybe to strengthen them or to test them... while bad people also experience bad things but the things they received are much WORSE!
also bout that google ad...ur right! i am pissed! but not to you sir joes(hehe) im pissed at the guys who made that! Jesus was born to inspire us and not to be a model in a google ad...
