Will it matter. WE can have a parliamentary form of government, but will that change the way politician do their business. Will it stop corruption in the government? Just a question?

what ever system of goverment that does not depend in the intrinsic goodness of a man to let the system work good is the best.

Just a question? nope i dont think so...in finance we have a saying..."controls are only as good as the people who implement it"...i believe in a good leader...the essence of governing and not the form

I think changing into a parliamentary or federal form of government is worth trying, we have been changing the people running the country and nothing seems to work, maybe its about time to change the system. Our politicians are so used to our current system that they already know the in and out of it.
This will also lessen TV or movie personality to run.

Yeah its worth trying but the problem is that it will be same faces again, same politicians, same tricks and same gimmicks. Who knows it may just solve the woes of our country

Bike analogy- It's the biker not the bike. Yes improving our bikes can add some to our performance, but still what is important is the biker's skills.
Yes a parliamentary form might have some advantage, but what should be changed are the leaders and the people's principles and values.

Will a multi-party system, which we have right now, work for a parliamentary type? Dito sa'tin isang katerba ang partido and to make it worst, and dami pang BALIMBING. I may agree to this new form only if the ALL incumbents and past national/local officials won't run for office and a GUARANTEE that this will indeed be better. So far, it's all words coming from those TRAPOs. Bottomline, if it's still the same old faces, might as well stick it out with the present.

if you have forgoten already!!!! we had a modified parliementary system before in the era of MARCOS!!!!!! I heard an interveiw this morning with Enrile who is a part of the parliement during the era of Marcos, but he himself said that it didn't really took off. It was just a show by Marcos to make martial law stay for a while. FYI

isn't this just a made as a diversion from all the controversies GMA's Admin is having right now? I think we Filipinos are very reactive when someone tries to change the form of gov't. Looks like killing two birds with one stone: They get to divert the people's attention and they change the form of gov't which is very much in favor of the trapos.

Also keep in mind, that it will the same politician now sitting in Congress and Senate who will rewrite the Constitution. The same people who would love to see lots of loopholes for their own advantage and their next of kin who will enter the politics when they get older.

other issues aside, i think at the very least, a parliamentary form of gov't will do the following for us: 1) ensure that the ministers are loyal to the president (i despise traitors). how can you run an effective gov't when factions exist? like the paper said, countries like the US are lucky because they have almost boundless resources. 2) a less costly election 3) one person gets to decide on the fate of the prime minister in charge of governing, and not some mob, or a bickering house

If the Filipino people clamors for a Charter change, then it should be through a Constitutional Convention wherein a representative should be elected by the people and trapos should not be allowed to be a candidate. The constitution should be rewritten by a common Filipino, not the elite and politician. Only then we will have a true government of the people and by the people. But will our politician agree with this?
