I don't know if Mt. Daguldol is really a mountain, but it was the first and only mountain/hill I climbed. We were all newbies before (still am actually), and our baon consisted of chocolates and canned food. We didn't have a stove, and we had a huge tent that could fit 8-10 people (we were only four). I want to bike it this year. I think it's doable because the foot path is also a horse/cow/carabao trail. Haven't stopped dreaming about it since I started biking last year.

Pero meron ding 'unusual' suspeks coz this is actually going to be a reunion climb with the other "tiguangs" from Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao especially those who was last seen 15 years ago. Ayan, nahahalata tuloy ang age ko. ;D ;D ;D Not sure if Sixto is going. Haven't talk to him yet.

sheoseThat's a clipping from the later years, right? I have a whole folder of newspaper clippings when it happened in '85. Still gives me the creeps everytime I read them. I was there at the tambayan before they left for Romblon. I talked to Rene "Atch" Reyes. He was so elated that he finally scraped up enough money for the trip. Turns out it was the last time I was gonna see him alive. May their souls rest in peace. I'd love to climb Guiting again. Unfortunately, the only way I can add more mountains under my belt is not repeat climbing a mountain. Ang dami pa kasi.

A few nobody's mentioned...
Calauit (border of Mt. Province and Ifugao) - 2714m
Kapiligan (Ifugao, north of Napulauan) - 2709m
Alchan (Southern Kalinga) - 2610m
Sapocoy (Central Kalinga) - 2456m
Mengmeng (Mt Prov/Abra border) - 2305m
There are dozens of summits over 2000m in the Central Cordillera, many aren't even named... no shortage!

I think its from 1995 (10th death anniversary). after that tragic incident strange things become happening to the mountaineers climbing guiting, yun ang sabi samin nila mang lee, and his son bobet and his elder brother, we stayed at their place, I think they are the official guides there when we are at mayos peak bobet pointed to us the location where it happened. @kulot_salot UGAT umakyat gapang at tumakbo/takbo tama ba? ha! ha! first time I saw a Teva was during mayon conquest 91. mostly climbers from the south, I think nag labasan ang mga sandals nun fed climb sa matulid nun 93 kanya-kanyang display,( a memorable climb "alak palit bigas" ;D)

dayuhanI got a list of Philippine mountains from UP Mountaineers and yes, they're (Calauit, Alchan, etc) all there. Looking back, I wonder why there was no interest to explore them back then. I guess people were satisfied with Mt. Pulag.
