Proposed Activities (tentative)
A. Climbs:
§ Mount Kelong (3 days) Located between the boundary of the Municipality of Ambaguio and Bayombong and with a height of 1535 meters (5066 feet) above sea level. Participants will climb from Poblacion, Ambaguio and traverse to Busilac, Bayombong. The view atop is an Antipolo-type setting, overlooking the 7 municipalities of the province of Nueva Vizcaya. Technical climbing because the trail is mostly narrow ridges, steep and slippery descent. Thick and mossy forest.
§ Mount Ludok (3 days)Located in Barangay Nansyakan, Kayapa near the boundary of Ambaguio with two peaks (1685 m/5560 feet and 1625 m/5362 feet). Technical climbing due to the limestone composition of the mountain, making the trail slick. The summit looks like Echo Valley of Sagada. Thickly forested.
§ Mount Pullol (1-2 days)It is considered by the first settlers of Ambaguio to be the highest mountain in the area. Standing at 1962 meters (6474.6 feet), one can see Mount Pulag on its summit and a hunting ground to the locals. A guest house was built last year for visitors who want to climb the mountain. Thick and mossy forest. Though a one-day hike from Poblacion, Ambaguio. Climbers will be challenged by its steep ascent to the summit.
§ Mount Pulag National Park (Pulog) (4 days – 2 routes)Standing at 2922 meters (9642.6 feet). It is the highest mountain in Luzon. The borders between the province of Benguet, Ifugao, and Nueva Vizcaya meet at the mountain's peak. The mountain hosts 528 documented plant species. It is the natural habitat of the endemic dwarf bamboo, (Yushania niitakayamensis) and the Benguet pine (Pinus insularis). Among its native wildlife are 33 bird species and several threatened mammals such as Philippine deer, giant bushy-tailed cloud rat and long-haired fruit bat. The indigenous people of Benguet consider the mountain to be a sacred place. On February 20, 1987, a large part of the mountain was designated as a National Park with Proclamation No. 75.
