Hi all!
Is anyone into running? I'm interested in joining fun runs, the 5k or shorter ones, and I can't seem to find any info on Pinoy running clubs or listing of fun run events for the year.

There's Runnex (running executives?). They have regular runs and the occasional race around UP on weekends.
You can also hang out at the last transition of a triathlon, tapos jump in when nobody's looking. ;D

Some of the Allterra boys have started running. A duathlon is coming up. You should join. Anyway, join the allterraclub egroup if you want more info.

first things first.
what kind of doctor should i see before i start running? one who can tell me if running will be good for me.
i usually go walk/jog 1 round at the UP oval before riding my bike. and whenever i try to run, i experience pain my shoulder blades. it stops when i walk.

hi sis! PM me your number - lets schedule a run next week (after the NOMADS Race) and lets run sa UP if you want.. hey! I'm still having nagging back problems whenever i run so i do mostly brisk walking. pero i did sign up for the 5k fun run sponsored by DZMM. it's november 20-something ;D (can't quite recall). they have this registration booth every sunday at the acad oval. i hope to be well enough by that time. but i'll be sure to ask you for tips on how to train for fun runs when i see you next.

woofers and allegra, will check my armswing. all, i'm worried that it might be bike-related, as i used to go 2-3 rounds every week with no problem. i only experienced this the past month, when i started biking and jogging.

The best talaga running, I did 10 laps at Ultra Last Thurs, I was in the mood so I kinda pushed it and did the 10 laps in 00:29:31.00 , whew ... Then you know what It was no sweat doing 40KM on my bike at Macapagal yesterday with an ave. speed of 30+ km/hr .
Well to start running get nice pair of running shoes, lots of SALE in Adidas , Nike or Accel ( Cheapest @ 900.00 a pari beside all terra). Also buy a light running shorts and jersey. Start with a run/ walk/ run combo slightly increasing the pace and distance.
My training sched - 2x running on weekdays, biking on week ends.

i was very much into running before going into mtb. i was doing 6kms./run (around 1 hour) 3x during weekdays. i stopped running to rest an osteoarthiritic right knee when i started biking. i'll try to see if the right knee is okay na after resting it for almost 10 months and plans to return to weekday running to support my weekend cycling (to improve my biking stamina and endurance during those long uphill push). i believe that a 2-3x weekday run crosstraining will compensate and improve an old person's (that's me) stamina and endurance to catch-up with the peloton during those punishing trail uphills. takbo-padyak lang

ok, i started running three weeks ago and my left knee hurts at about 2km of running.
for the 1st and 2nd week, i run every other day, for the 3rd week i run almost daily.
i walk for about 300m (as warm-up) then do some stretches and then start to run, after about 1.5 km of running/walking my left knee starts to hurt and at about 2km its too painful to run.
after a few minutes of rest, the pain subsides.
i haven't run seriously since my childhood days but i've been biking continuously for the last three years and never had any injury of any kind in my knees.
any ideas how can i improve my knee? or is this already serious?

based on experience (as i was very much into running before) the impact of running may aggravate a "suspected" osteoarthiritic knee condition. the best move would be to have the troubled knee x-rayed and checked by an ortho. just my .02 on the issue. HTH Cheers
