No wonder the shorts are so expensive , tipid pala sa briefs Yeah, but then unless you surf every day, you only need one pair. ;D So far, I haven't found any really good local boardshorts. I have a couple of pairs from Bench which is usable, and one from SPF (swimwear co. owned by my friend's wife) which is almost OK but they're really miles away in quality from those by Quiksilver or Billabong. Zambales, 3 hours drive from Metro Manila. Lots of good breaks there for beginners and intermediate surfers.

been to crystal beach heheheh surfs uP!!!!!! Yup, these days Crystal has affordable surf clinics too! Crystal Beach is nice, but all the Manila surfers go there. I'd rather avoid the crowded lineups and find my own break. Fortunately there's lots of good spots up and down the Zambales coast.

Billabong = ouch! 3t shorts They go 50% off sometimes at Stoked. But Quiksilver has better shorts -- nicer fabric, cool designs, more technical features. Billabong's more heavy duty. Simpler features, tougher fabrics. Can't go wrong w/ either. I've not seen their shorts, sorry. I forgot to mention I have a pair of Speedo "boardshorts". The first time I wore them, I discovered why real boardshorts don't have a garter -- the waves can/will pull them off. Yup, I hear surf there is good, too.

Fluid. La Union is the easiest to get to, but Zambales is nearer (3hrs). yu cant do it as a hobby though. early on you have to nearly every weekend otherwise everytime you go para kang newbie ulit. paddlng out is the hardest part but if you already swim regularly that should be an advantage. No wonder the shorts are so expensive , tipid pala sa briefs what's a good brand of local board shorts? seems like an interesting hobby , kaso the nearest site sa atin is what?...La Union?

Fluid Surf is okay. only when you're wearing it can you tell the difference in the superior fabric of Billabong. but from an onlooker's point of view, pareho lang. tsaka who cares what you're wearing when you can ride inside a barrel? ;D
by the way they call 'shubees' those who dress up like surfers but have never surfed a day in their lives (like me sometimes heheh) ;D

Fluid Surf is good. The manufacturers are hard core local surfers. Many types of material to choose from tough nylon to quick dry polyester or a mix of both. The brand is supported by local surfers. Haven't surfed in years though. Anyone interested in a used long board?
