I'm booked for Makau on the 5th to the 7th of August. Can anyone refer a cheap motel I can stay at in Makau? If there are none, maybe I can take a ferry to HK and stay there instead? Anybody?

If there aren't cheap motels in Makau, then maybe there are in HK? Tama ba? Turista eh!
I heard it's a bad time to travel in August. Westerners are also off on vacation so accommodations go up.

Back to topic: you serious Jaymz? not in the city proper, i stayed @ bao'an district of schenzhen, its like an industrial zone of the city, so hotels cost is lower, but is way out of macau/hk... & you have to have a visa for mainland china...

Bruce, In Hong Kong, around HKD350.00-500.00 ang guest houses (flat/apartment) per day. Just to warn you, brad, avoid the HKD100-150 accomodation @ Tsim Sha Tsui Area like the Chung King Mansion. Too dangerous. Halos pareho lang rates ng cheap (hip) hotels in Macau and HK. Around HKD650-700. If you don't mind staying in the island, I can arrange much cheaper accomodation for you. Or if you don't mind sleeping on the floor in my place, it's free. And we can go riding on our playground, di ba J_A_P? Banny

I'm thinking of just going there and look for a motel as soon as I set foot on the place. Too adventurous ba? Foolish? I was actually planning on hooking up with you HK boys on this trip. But my wife doesn't want me to bring my rig. Kung pure business daw, dapat walang play. OHA?!?!?! Will surely do that sa "ber" season. I will take you up on that offer someday. Salamat padre!

Bruce, Do drop by if you have time, bring your wife para makita rin niya ang beauty of Lamma Island. No need to bring your rig, i'll lend you one. We can have a short ride in our "backyard". I think, PreaTorian will be here as well during that time. EB tayo, hehehe... But if di talaga pwede, Toma na lang tayo sa city. Da best! ;D ;D ;D here's my number just in case: 98540392.

Lamma Island...is that where the huge overlooking statue of A-ma is located? the one with the temple on top of the mountain? that would make for a great bike ride. the long winding uphill climb would be a major challenge though. do they allow bikes on that road? visit the Casino bruce (haha! bad influence). i won HK$100 in one of em casinos during my last Macau visit. slot machine lang

King debest talaga! Will take him up on that soon!
Owen, got my tickets buy one take one to Makau. Wife has Spanish leanings so we chose to try Makau. Paid 18k++ for both of us, roundtrip.
Cheenky, ubos na beginner's luck ko! hahahahahaha
Bee, I will definitely give you a call when I get to HK on this trip- that is if we can't find a place in Makau. And besides, it'll take you only a day and a half to tour Makau.

Hi Cheenky, Lamma is the next largest island in the territory after Lantau. I think you are referring to another place, the big buddha at Po Lin if I'm not mistaken. Lamma has no cars and no major roads. We have 3 smoke stack from the Hong Kong Electric power plant and a new Wind Turbine on top of the mountain. 350 meters ASL is the highest peak, the rest are all hills which are very suitable for riding and trail running. Hehe. So, you were talking about HK? I was thinking Macau. Sorry, i get confused. Not really good with directions. Basta, i know we went to 3 big islands in Macau, Bruce. I remember we went to Lord Stowe’s Bakery to get the famous egg tarts after that long winding uphill ride (not on a bike, of course) to see the A-ma temple. Parang, sa coloane island ata if i'm not mistaken. The road seems really great for biking. Big bikes lang ang nakita ko, though.

Imagine I've been here in HK for 12 years, last year lang ako nakapunta sa Macau. But I think I remember tha A-ma temple. Lots of roadies there, really fast rodies on super expensive bikes.
