some of his songs are kinda Latino inspired... some are sort of lounge beds...

The lounge pieces, I don't really enjoy. But his upbeat ones, Like Classical Gas (which I didn't know was his when I first heard it) . Try to get a copy of that album he did with Chet Atkins. Though I don't really listen to country/blue grass, that musical collaboration got me glued to my sound system for over an hour. I think it's called "Took over the world" or something. His instrumental ballads like Angelina are a pleasure to experience. His (almost entirely harmonic) take on "Somewhere over the Rainbow", is out of this world. Give him a try Nell, I hope you see what I was trying to get at in the other thread. Masters all of them, but cannot be compared.. Btw, Steve Vai loves him.

try listening to adrain belew and michael hodges (i don't know if i got the spelling right)!!!!! great guitar playing and influences of vai!!!!

guitar intramentals...... yup yup! i'd take mine to a different level..... jazz! i'd listen to george benson, lee ritenour, steve lukather, pat metheny and earl klugh (to name a few) any time! for the bass guitarists, it would be jaco pastorius, stanley clarke, victor wooten, rocco prestia and michael manring....... curahee!
