after being fed up with smart wifi's service, i recently signed up with globelines for an internet and phone bundle for P995 a month. sales agent delivers the phone and the modem.
so i had to ask this basic question: where will the phone line run inside the house?
sales agent says: its wireless for both the modem and phone.
me: can i bring the phone and modem anywhere? yes for most of metro manila. as long as there is (CDMA) signal, you'll get service.
after almost a month, service gets activated. i was able to use the phone inside the van and in the car wash compound a few blocks away from here. i can even send sms/txt messages (comes with 500 free sms to globe subscribers every month).
so with the phone, im totally satisfied. all i need to do is test the boundaries of the service. but i wish they could've made the phone smaller. the phone they provide looks like a typical deskphone with an LCD screen, speaker, and a long antennae sticking out; kinda like a big satellite phone. i was hoping i could bring the phone anywhere via the pocket or even a small bag. but that would be inconvenient becoz of its bulk.
it was actually mind boggling. cost to get phone nowadays is getting lower with an even better service: wireless; totally. back then, everything is like so difficult. i feel so lucky to have lived at this point in time. but i'd be luckier if i was born in the 90's, hehehe. ;D
the internet service though, i'm a bit worried. its a bit slow. service is 384 kbps but it kinda feels like a 256 kbps. plus, my chikka software keeps prompting me to re-enter my username/password; a sign that the connection is dropping. that would suck if you download stuff. haven't tried it though. let's see what happens in a couple of days.
i heard pldt or bayantel has a similar service. any reviews about that? i might change providers if the internet service doesnt improve. but its better than dial up and even an inconsistent, smart wifi. ;D
