Hello,
I have been looking around for printers and was quite shocked to see that printers nowadays cost P2K (some are even P1.5K). I just want to ask reviews/feedbacks/comments from you guys if you have purchased these types of printers. I will be giving it as a gift to my bros for school work and maybe printing of pictures (not hight quality ones because the printers are not the top of the line ones). Thanks in advance!

you are shocked because of the low price or is it the other way around? actually, imho, they cost much less without the cartridges or toners that come with each printer...because these cartridges or toners are very very expensive.
nagkakaubusan ng epson lx300 dot matrix printers though...these printers cost around 7k nowadays but the ribbon is very very dirt cheap. dot matrix printers are more suited for school paperworks and office documents... but if you want to print pix, get the inkjets.

The budget printers now are almost equal to the cost of the original inks.

yep, shocked at the low cost of the printers. cartridges are around P1K. i would like a colored printer. my bros are actually using a portable canon inkjet printer (b/w), but it is a little slow and runs out of ink fast.

just an update, i bought an HP 2360 printer at a shop in parksquare for P2,250. It's cheaper in SM appliance by P50 (fyi). I would've gotten a HP 900, but the computer shops do not have it in 0 interest terms for credit cards. It costs around P5K, but you would save a lot on ink cartridges (1/3 the price of the ones used in the HP 2360).

shocked due to low cost. budget printers a couple of years ago cost P3.5K+. i would've gotten the higher model, but due to budget constraints, had to settle for entry level.
..i'm more shocked at mtb parts prices though.

supWhy don't you try to have your printer modified to a bottomless ink system? You will save on ink in the long run if you print a lot.

Just got an EPSON C59 for P2599.- at IT Madness shop in Gilmore, QC.
I'm taking it for a spin for a few months with the original ink provided.
Then I'll bring it again to Gilmore for the installation of Continuous Ink System (CIS). NOTE: THIS WILL FORFEIT THE WARRANTY. EPSON has a way of detecting the installation of the CIS inspite of the cleanup the CIS shops are offering. Someone installed the CIS and the printer broke down within the month. Sorry, no warranty.
Knowing the risk, it's your call.
There are 2 shops offering CIS. One is under the escalator (run by guys) and the other one is located on the 2nd floor (run by babes).
CIS cost around P2750 to P5000 depending on printer model. Refills cost like P250 for a 220ml bottle and a different brand at P140 for a 100ml bottle. I'm not sure if the inks are compatible or if the ink is dependent on the CIS.
Ask around when you're trying to install CIS on other brands because there are problematic models. Get your 2nd, 3rd, 4th opinion to be sure.
Epson printouts are nice. However, from my experience, whenever you turn it on, the charging of the ink takes a while and it eats up the ink so expect the ink to get used up quite horrendously quick if you're not equipped with the CIS.
