Hi everyone! Last December i have planned to build a bike again, kaso wag na daw muna iba na lang unahin ko . So i medyo heavy hearted to sell the frame i have just bought second hand. Its already two years since I reluctantly sold my whole bike to cover financial problems but I was not yet able to 'kupit' money specially now that i have a wife and a 6 months old baby girl. ;D While walking nearby our place, I have scavenged upon a (READ!) 85 pesos lugged steel frame from a junk shop(1 1/8 na yung head tube). I just want to know if its worth to be built and if its safe to use specially that part where the seatstay and seattube connects(it seems kasi na its not welded that much or wala lang ako tiwala sa lugged frame?) Attached are pictures and needing your advise on how to convince my wife that I need to bike again for my healths sake, ;D I'm planning to build this as a single speed commuter bike(very very limited budget) if not as a trail bike. Salamat at naway makapagbike na ulit ako.

Yup...very nice find brad use it! you cant just break a steel frame brad ...based on your picture of the raw frame, its in very good condition you can use it for urban rides and trail rides for sure my half steel half alum lugged frame will meet your steel lugged frame in the trails brad

Those are old school (although it's making a comeback with custom framebuilders) fastback stays. They are plenty strong for mountainbiking...

it seems that you are already building it up. Its primered as i can see it. I think the wife won't mind you biking again , just do take care (extra), enjoy your daughter, those early years are priceless. in my thoughts you did have a good find.

That's a good find! Bronze brazing is fine and as strong as Tig
welding, and it's easier to repair or alter the geometry in case
the frame doesnt suit you. Check the bottom for some serial
number so we can identify it. All the best on your project.

Thanks everyone! You've made me a proud owner of a very affordable bike( niloloko kasi ako nung isang kapitbahay ko pambinatog bike daw). Hoping to ride with you soon as I completed this bike, as of now Im looking for a seatpost with 29.something diameter or I'll just use shim for the seatpost... Salamat sa pagpapalakas ng loob! I only need this parts stem bar (flat) with bar ends wheelset ( the one you see is from our mall bike with rustssss!) bb v-brakes seatpost and saddle (Konti na lang!!!) ;D I havent found serial numbers on the bottom but i think i saw about five figures on the head tube. Basta mamahalin ko tong frame na to! (trans: I'll sell this for 100 times it cost me...) ;D

dude you have a bike tech there, given the seat stay attachment, the lug shape, the drop-out, serials on the head-tube and the routing, I'm guessing late 80's bike-tech from japan, this probably explains also why the tubes are still in good condition (most japanese bikes used cromoly instead of high-tensile steel thus the corrosion resistance)
Clean it up nicely it makes for a nice old school with cred!!! hey even if it were some wan-tai frame it is still a great find for that price!

That frame looks exactly like my 1991 Bridgestone MB-1!!! Look at the dropouts - it may reveal something -
