I host a Bike Swap every spring where everyone brings together gear they want to sell (as well as beer and things to grill/eat) and we lay it out on my lawn and we trade/barter deal along with the general public (as well as eat and drink). We then do a post swap ride... Check out last year's swap: forums.mtbr.com/showthread.php?t=290627&highlight=swapAnyway, as I was putting my stuff together for this year's swap, I was getting rid of a bunch of water bottle cages when I decided to take a closer look at one that seemed unusually light for a non-carbon cage. Come to find it was a 38 gram King Ti cage (MSRP $50) so naturally, it got taken out of the "Swap" pile and got put on the Ti SS... I'm not even sure where the cage came from... It doesn't look blingy but it goes well with the bike's color theme..hehe... It just goes to show you, not all bling comes from Chris King... Sometimes, you just have to take a closer look at what you got in the junk pile as there maybe hidden treasures.... Has anyone thought about doing a similar PinoyMTBiker bike swap locally? It's a great way to get people together and to get rid of stuff to someone that will actually use it!!! At my swap, I was able to get rid of some vintage Manitou stuff (like an original Manitou fork handbuilt in Doug Bradbury's garage- it didn't even have a serial number it was such an early model!)...

Nice Gar. I myself just found 2 for the price of one in January. Couldn't resist. How can you go wrong with a King Cage, right?
Bling-less Bling!
Sources will remain undisclosed.... Ha ha

Very lucky yeah... The cage is actually very well ade with no seams or cracks. I met King at NAHMBS (he had a booth) and I bought SJ a Ti bracelet. I was actually considering putting it in the "Free" box during the swap... I've never used King Cages before which is why I was surprised I found this in my pile of cage (I usually use carbon of Elite cages). I think it may have been a take off on a frame that I bought at one point or another... Upon closer inspection, the King Cage I have is not Ti. It's Stainless Steel (it has a SS imprinted on it) but the weird thing is, my tool magnet doesn't stick to it (which is why I originally thought it was Ti).

Here's my pair. I had to wait two months to get them and I'm out of the country now so I haven't even gotten to try them out!!! This weekend hopefully. Maybe the stainless steel he uses is a non magnetic steel.... if there's such a thing.

need someone to babysit your bikes, JM? hehe Jay Perez also has a King kage - I think he scored it in Cartimar... heres the Q- i dont know if its tie or not. i know its pretty light. could be aluminum? looks pretty much like Ti though. hey flip! are there any tell-tale marks or tests? it was hanging with the rest of the cages in christy's ti or non-ti it was as a steal.

somebody told me once that if a magnet sticks to a stainless steel, it means that its grade has lesser resistance to corrosion...just like alum, stainless has many grades.

Here's how you can tell with King Cages..... It's the opposite as with others. King makes his stainless steel cages with smaller tubing and his Ti with fatter tubing. Don't know why but that's just how he does them. Take a look at his website.

in any case Ti or SS cages are better because they don't scratch up your bottles like aluminum ones do.

for King Cages, if it doesn't say "SS" by the lower bolt hole, it should be Ti (since they only make either Ti or Stainless...
