I just finished SS #7 today. IMHO you can never have enough singlespeeds. It's an On One Inbred (geared frame). 24lbs: RS Revelation XTR 950 crank with XT spider (34T) Surly cog 21T WTB hubs, 717 and DT Revs Kenda BG 2.35 and Schwalbe Racing Ralph 2.4 RF Evolve 100mm stem and RF Alloy bar Hayes HFX 9 carbon hydros Generic carbon seatpost with an old Flite 747 Pedals. Everything on the bike with the exception of the seatpost came from the parts bin so it was a build on the cheap. Ignore the long steerer and the extra long hydro cables. These are backup parts to the 575 so I can't cut them.

flipnidaho, just want to ask if the xtr chain ring has 'shift grooves' in them? from the close-up photos, it seems that they don't have any.
thanks for posting photos of #7! you gave me new ideas in cog and chainring positioning. placing the chainring in the outer most part of the cranks makes the setup look much cleaner than having spacers between the bolts.
makes me wonder which SS is your favorite among the 7. your other bikes might get jealous. ;D

I always place the chainring on the outboard (where the big chainring would normally be) as I think that it does give it a cleaner, more integrated look. This also places the cog closer on the outboard side of the freehub which can be a problem if you're running a tensioner as the tensioner can hit the chainstay in push up mode. My favorite SS has to be "Lua".

For the sake of my betlog/nads, I cut the steerer a little bit more and also the Pop-Loc remote cable to the minimum length (190mm) so I can still swap the fork out with my other bikes (I play with a LOT of different forks). Check it out. The next step is to try a 150mm fork on this frame...hehe I also had this problem of hitting my knee on the cable stops since I pedal duck footed and knees in (yes, i look funny when i ride). it's an annoyance when i rude but can get downright dangerous in a crash so I looped a piece of brake housing around the stops to minimize the edge. So far, so good. As a side benefit, I'm also able to zip the hydro hose to it since the Problem Solvers cable guides only come two to a package.

thanks for the clarification on the chainring, flipnidaho. lua, your hand built frame; very nice! what's the fatest tire size you could fit in the rear? unfortunately, i built the Lua when I was in XC mode so the fattest I can fit in the rear is a 2.2 (and that barely clears the seat stays. Right now, I'm running a 2.0 Schwalbe Fat Albert in the back (which is a great tire by the way).
