I got bored today so I decided to build up my 2nd SS bike ever (the first bike I converted was my old 1990 Klein Attitude but it is currently waiting in the rebuild queue while I try to find a Mission Control stem/bar combo) and ride it again. Do you still ride your original SS bike?

Nice one...Is it a Ti frame as Dean normally do? I'm going to pick up a 1990-93 Klein Attitude in green-white-pink funky color...I get tired and bored of upgrading too so I go the otherway this time...going retro... to answer your question, I dont ride it anymore...give it to my father...Cheers

My first SS bike was a converted Azonic KZ-1. Then I had the converted Ti frame, then moved on to a Surly Karate Monkey.
I've since sold all three frames...I miss each one a bit though.

speaking of Kleins. Here is my first ever SS. I converted it about 15 years or so ago... With the massive rigid aluminum fork and 34X17 gearing, this bike will rattle you to death and destroy legs. I don't think I can ever go back to rigid...hehe..

Hey Gary, if you have ten single speed bikes, doesn't that make you a ten speeder ;D

hahaha! good one Michelle.
nice looking Dean. looks like it will make a nice 69er rigid, as long as you stay away from those teeth chipping aluminum forks.
to answer your question... yes and no. I converted a generic Ti frame to SS 3 years ago and still use it as my main rig, but has gone through several transformations. It's been a 26" with suspension fork, to rigid 26", to 69er rigid in it's current reincarnation. In it's next life I'm thinking of putting a Jones H-bar on it. One thing has been constant, the gearing is always 36x20 since that's what fits w/o a tensioner.

Hey Gary! Yes still ride the first SS (1990 Gary Fisher Advance) that I built but only when I visit my brad down in Davao. I left her at his place so I don't have to transport a bike whenever I go down there. Here are some pics below. Since these pics were taken, I have changed the biopace chainring to a more practical Blackburn 34t ring and a chris king 19t rear aluminum cog with proper spacers (not the rubber fox fork seals you see pictured.......) I've also changed the not so dependable no name tensioner to the one that you recommended (Rennen). See you back here in Manila during your next visit since I don't think I'll be able to swing an Idaho trip anytime soon. J.M. Side view Front View (Notice the old school Deore XT 1 1/4" Headset) Handlebar with embossed GF logo Drivetrain (38:21 and I used Fox 32mm fork seals as spacers along with old headset bearings) Bio Pace 38T Chain Ring on original Shimano LX Crank sanded down for the brushed look) Shimano XTR 900 Seat Clamp Uno Quill Type Stem - 0 degree rise / 110mm Oops... Gotta wipe off some of the excess grease under the headset....

ya gotta love "ressurected" frames that become SS. people kept telling me today that they don't understand why someone would SS so much. i just tell them, "that's ok, you don't have to understand".... hehe...

the truth with me is, i admire their glory much more after their term as geared bicycles has ended. i always take them for spin, but the original is still my daily messenger bike, its steel, light and not too gaudy.
