I found this at singlespeedoutlaw.com Top Ten Reasons to Ride a Single Speed 10. Low maintenance. 9. You can't have to many bikes. 8. Sticks can't get caught in your derailluer. 7. No chain slap. 6. No missed shifts. 5. No chain suck. 4. If you have a geared bike you can lend that one out to a friend to introduce them to biking. 3. Hills hurt more (yes, this is good). 2. Passing geared riders makes you feel good. 1. They are just d@mn fun to ride! ____________ OT. I think the editors/owners of the site are pinoy and members of PinoyMTBiker too. I clicked at some signatures in this SS forum and lo and behold, their albums and links led to SSO. A very nice e-zine for single speeders. go check it out

Why? To join the ss mtb competition in Bataan, after that back to 9 speed again. Any idea what an SS race track terrain is like? Not that I'm joining the race...just wondering

jibber, alphabot uses his SS during practice/recon at 24 hour race track. i think a lot of PinoyMTBiker SSers who will race will bring their rigs just in case it rains (knock on wood; i hope it doesn't)

Short Travel FS is best for the new track But strong riders can do the race in SS no prob. Im not strong heheh

Re: why do we switch to SS . . . I don't know. I really just don't know why I did the first few rides on my SS. I really want to give up the bike, but now, I really like having one and planning to dispose off my FS. Hehehe. Btw, what speed can you maintain on flats riding a 32 x 16? Thanks PinoyMTBiker's.
