guys how can i set up my ss like that w/o a tensioner. im using a mosso m1 slalom frame with horizontal dropout but it always derails several times so i put a tensioner. but i like a set up like the one on this pic. help! what type of cogs you have? if you can check it properly it has to be like this you can notice this type of cogset doesnt have ramps on each tooth........ now, if you got da bomb single speed converter, the cogs came with that kit have ramps on every tooth that's why it derails several times....... hope this helps..........

you have to experiment with different chainring & cog combinations until you find one with enough chain tension to keep it from dropping, or sometimes you can get away with it using half-links.

check your chainline, bent cog or tooth, bent chainlink, axle could be slipping under torque. typically tensioners increase the potential to derail.

thanx for the input guys yes got my cogs out of the da bomb kit. i believe its from the chain length as well coz i never experience any derailments as soon as i have converted by a mechanic. thing seems to derail when i change my tires. will do experiments as well and see if i can post the pics. thanx

sorry, i misread your post. i didnt realize see that you were using horizontal drops. it might be a problem of having shifteing ramps on the chain rings and the cogs, but the bigger issue may be not having a perfectly straight chain line. if there's a slight angle it may cause the chain to derail.

@king found that out too late. but i was able to bring it back and correct the chain length and max the use of the horizontal dropout. it was effective no derailment so far with ramps. although havent tried in a trail yet. but i bet there wont be anymore issues. things look simpler now which is the reason why im hook with an ss rig. just like GBB said "youll never go back to multi geared". thanks for the input guys had a pic already lemme see if i can post it here one of these days.
