nothing as wonderful as the time shared by children and parents alike...especially the thing that you loved most...mtbiking. me and the boys already rode saturday...somehow we forgot to bring the camera. sunday was unexpectedly warm so sir kadag and i decided to take the boys out and release them from captivity again. i brought along with me my 2 boys... adrian who is 13 and andrew my 7 year old. kadag and his young, bold and restless batman... and raspador with his elusive jr. it was my little son's 3rd ride on his mountain bike. the rest of the boys have scars to prove it. sir kadag had to chill out around the parking lot..and obviously me and raspador had to ride and watch them all, and coaching at the same time all throughout their ride. it was a payoff...a transformation. this is their day and these are the special moments that i have captured. fill-up your lungs with fresh autumn air... safety briefing and you better pay attention cause you will get a nip in the butt if you don't.... rock n' roll.... trying to keep up with the big boys pace... the first ascent... good thing there's pa...i have to set the pace.... entering the single track.... raspador..the man...the myth...the legend... and his younger version...silent and swift, raspadito jr he walked this bridge on his first try...this is his second ... exiting the pines... our pit stop....had to recharge their batteries. then we decided to take the fire road loop.... we decided to split the group...raspador had to ride with the bigger and faster boys...i got the little champ... "pa....my muscles are pumping-up already" "yea, girls dig that...don't forget about me...don't tell ma..ok?" "what the hell are you doing dad??" "put it on 2..." "put it back on 4..." got back in the parking lot, and started riding his motocross bike.... need more rush.... "man his way cooler than me..." ADD type when he was smaller...and now has a way to channel his excess energy... sir busta came for a late afternoon ride...with me... kadag one particular scene that made me jubilant where my little boy andrew was trying to cross the bridge...the day before that, he sat on his bike and walked his way through that bridge all the way to the other end. that day I was more than skeptical about him actually riding the bike on the bridge...so i told andrew to wait for me on the other side and i'll walk with him after i let the 2 big boys passed and take their shots. i was on my way to pick him up...i couldn't believe my eyes...he was actually pedaling, coming right at me steadily! left, right, left, right in a beautiful, fluid motion in the middle of the bridge. i quickly scrambled for the camera and took the shots...the rest is history. i was clapping and hollering. i have mentally replayed that moment over and over again. my days were riddled with questions about my son's limitations so i've become a quite a pessimist regarding his potential. lesson learned? don't let preconceived notions about your child dominate what YOU believe your child is capable of. i look forward to being fitted for his own bike (not to mention my 13 year old started getting interested on batman's rig and he's almost there) and exploring the many beautiful bike paths that michigan has to offer. and of course they were begging to go riding again....and who am I to deny a request? I can't wait for the cold weather to lift and the bike riding to begin!

Kakainggit!!! I 'm looking forward to the day I get to ride with my own little rider!! He's not quite ready yet, (he only just turned 5 this month) but getting there. I'll probably take off his training wheels after a couple more rides around the village.

KIDDFOES, wow lifelines is the best analogy to kids i've heard coming from a parent. i'm not a parent myself but i can understand how they sustain you in ways you won't be able to describe--and they live on and take a part of you beyond your own world. lifeline indeed. you rock, brother

what a great experience for you kidd, congrats! and yes, never underestimate the lil' ones, they always have loads of surprises.
my son (in my avatar) is into biking also. but there are days when given choice of computer games or bike and he'll easily chose the keyboards. he's only 5 so i got time to influence him. i got 3 daughters as well so the stable is very much filled up.
hope to post family ride pics soon.
keep on enjoying your family and rides!
