Why is it that most trials bike i see are using V-brakes on the rear and Disc on front I, actualy, did the same thing for my bike, thinkin' it would be the best thing to do, knowing that most of us here are using it(disc on the front).... (tried it for more than a month) Yesterday, out of boredom, i tried experimenting, and installed my extra ''Vees'' on the front... And WhOoaa!!! To my surprise, Everything that has to do with the front brake just got A lot Easier, Its like Magic... I just would like to know some insights on this thing(Vees on rear and DB on front)... Thank you...

I'm not really a trials rider - just dabbling in it to improve my overall riding. But I think using a disc brake up front makes for better modulation (i.e. endo drops, rolling down steep chutes). V's in the back provide more "stable" or more "powerful" braking w/o fear of shearing off disc brake tabs. You really don't do as much modulation in the back wheel for most of the trials techniques.
I could be wrong though...

I think your line of question is more on : why disk in front? Right?
Vees in front will be beneficial in terms of weight. A properly setup disk in front will smoke your vees in all aspect (including weight if you have the right brand and model hehe)
Later on onjeb you will need more locking power on the rear as you progress and it wont be pleasant to come and go to spots using front vees especially if you begin to use expensive brake pads on the rear.
Vees or DB in front its more or less the same. Boils down to personal preference.
I prefer DB in front since I have more confidence on downhills when coming or going to spots because its more reliable at speeds. Plus if you grind or tar you rear wheel you cant use it for modulating much. If you play nearby or bring cars to spots then your good.
Preference since Joolz has the opposite setup for the same application.
onjeb where do you guys play? I want to ride with you guys soon.

Thanks, Patrick! Btw, OT: finally set-up my STP as an all-around play bike. Installed an 8-spd cog (23-12), SRAM medium cage derailleur & 22 chainring up front. I'm keeping the disc brake set-up on both wheels. Got tired of keeping it strictly park or strickly trials. I kept changing the chain, cog & chainring.

(correct me if I'm wrong guys...hehehe) reading on the stuff on the other channel, DB in front for better modulation, coz V's locks up in an instant... Let's ride with pat, we'll learn much...

I get what you guys are saying.... Thanks a lot... It's also really a preference... Tried my Front DB again today and had it checked, (cause i felt that it really has to much locking power, like nikkocholo said, plus i'm realy used to DB on front) the thing was I just Really have a defective Disc pads... (its the Serfas brand) So i changed my pads and there, my front DB came back to life... i think i'm ganna stick to it this time... ( bought the 'Fastop' brand @ BTC) I've been really wanting to ride with you guys Pat, Just couldn't get a time... I'll text you... Thanks guys... ;D
