just a question, since vees are the preferred rear brake for trials bikes, do pro's still use cable actuated Vees like Magura or do they also use cable? thanks

Ryan leech used to have HS-33 (hydraulic rim brakes) on his bike, probably there are factors that they consider: feel of the brakes, power, and probably "sponsorship" issues as well ;D hehehe!

Pros usually use what the sponsors has, Lenosky and Leech both uses mechanical vees since they are sposored by Shimano. Generally trials pros uses Magura HS33's since they are more reliable (hydros) than cable actuated and availability of proper trials brakepads. Plaz CRVs (V for vees) are hard to come by than CRM (M for Magura).
Leech used to use HS33s with an ungrounded , no tar rims, since he switched he has been seen using light grinding and tar on the rims.

i have another question. Do PRO's use internally geared hubs? to lessen chainslap and still have the ability to shift.
i've seen geared with RD/tensioner and SS setup.
