Just a thread to share things for those trial avid dudes (like me) Oi - calling Gt and other people into trials. I'm still into XC

Ang galing...mukhang serious ka na talaga sa trials ;D How's your quest for magura hydraulic rim brakes? dehins ka magsisisi dun in terms of performance So...what keeps you trials busy these days? I haven't had the time to mount my bike for a week now...I'm currently working on 12hr night shifts

"ride lots" - Eddy Mercx

Gt - para preoccupied ako while in school di, na kasi ako makapag trail ride ng malayo. Siguro dito muna ako sa amin. Hirap makasali sa PCN, naging dalawa pa tuloy e-mail ko woofers - thanks for the links about trackstanding. Naghahanap kasi ako ng ibang articles on how to trackstand. fattire - salamat rin sa advice mo, since nagsisimula palang ako, basics palang ako, saka ko na aabutin yung napakahirap na moves like japslaps/surging/pedalhops/etc.

I don't wanna go pro for this discipline so I'm giving myself some slack in terms of practicin' the moves In my 5 months of trying to learn trials...nasa 50% pa lang yata ako ng level 2 progression chart ;D I've done some lurch moves last week...pero mga 2 inch high lang and 6 inch ang layo..he..he..I can do bunnyhops far greater than that ;D Anyway...wish ko to at least do a 3 feet lurch next year...medyo takot lang me ngayon 'coz my mtb frame standover height is zero...meaning, my balls may no longer be round if I don't replace my frame

Yo woofers...nice sites btw ;D I've discovered that bending your knees way down and pumping up your body for counterbalance also gives added mileage to trackstanding, imho

;D ;D ;D no way...it might dig in and castrate me...ouch!!! I'm still looking for the right frame...mebi a gts m7 or khs with 14" and below seat tube

Di kaya magmukhang bmx yung bike ;D
I think m7 is the right frame, light, small and strong.

I believe so too Yun nga lang...parang masyadong mataba pa rin ang downtube...so, any trials move that you're targetting to nail this week? Set up your brakes and do the front endo with a hop...then maybe if you can have a slight variation like a front endo 90 deg hop ;D That should keep you busy for a while...di ba mas maganda kung meron peer pressure ;D

Ayos nga yung brake ko sa harap eh, just don't have the guts to raise the bar on doing endoes. Have to find grass para pag nag-crash...safe Nakakapag lurch ka na pala, diba sabi sa trials-online, the higher the front tire the shorter the distance
|
|
|
Post by jibber on Jul 22, 2004 21:34:09 GMT 8
Tama...kaya nga siguro super short distance lang nakuha ko kasi super high din ang front tire ko...di ko pa kaya to lurch from a low front tire...mahina pa me sa balance eh Actually yung very short lurch ko...eh very funny din ang dating...I feel like an idiot kaya I practice it around 2-3pm when my neighbors are not around ;D ;D ;D Practice ka ng endos front and back...progress it pataas ng pataas. Practice din doing it extreme endos to the point that you have to bail...this way your reflexes will be developed and alam mo kung paano mag-bail in such situations

Finally I could do Trackstands pero parang variation siya ng rocking tracstand at yung stationary ;D Had to find some incline first, then put a lot of small pedals. Still cant center my gravity.

nakakapagod din mag trackstand di ba...hapong-hapo ako palagi when i practice this...for now i can only do a standstill for 10 secs and on a good day a two minute trackstand using rocking and small pivots...pero sobrang pagod din...ang hirap talaga pag medyo may edad na ;D

Wala yun, just think about the pros doing trials Any tips on pivoting? Still haven't tried this move yet.

okay...a pivot is turning your bike in a circular motion with only one wheel on the ground generally there are two types...the front pivot and the rear wheel pivot. a front pivot is lifting your rear wheel up and having to turn your front wheel on the ground...bringing the rear wheel in a circular motion...the same goes with the rear wheel but this time you have to lift the front. if you want to do a 180 deg or more pivot..you have to lift the front or rear wheel higher. lower lift height pivots are used for balance corrections i have been doing this for quite a while and the move seems to be dependent on weight shifting using your hips. My front pivot technique: 1. First learn how to endo on the front. You can at least lift your wheel a foot or two To practice...start at a slow pace with your hips positioned on top or at the rear of the bottom bracket...then engage your front brake at the same time bringing your hips towards the handlebars. These moves should be done within one second. This is a weight-shift move to lift your rear wheel. Start from a small endo then progress up to a foot. Also, see the jumping techniques thread...I think I have posted there how to do a rear wheel lift without using your front brakes. This is a pre-requisite to the front endo. 2. If you are now comfortable with the front endo...you may start to learn the front pivot. To do this...do a front endo...then weight-shift your hips to the left or right and turn your handlebars (turn left if you want to pivot to the right and vice versa for a left pivot), whichever you are comfortable with and where you want your rear wheel to go. Now remember...the front endo and the weight-shift to left or right should be done in 1 second ;D This is the front pivot move. Start from small pivots (10 deg turn) and progress to a whooping 180 deg turn ;D I have even downloaded a video showing a trials rider do a 360 deg static front pivot ;D I can do a 180 deg turn with my rear wheel lifted to around 1.5 to 2 feet ;D All for now...tell me if you have already progressed to at least 90 deg front pivot then i'll post a technique for the rear wheel pivot ;D Feel free to ask me for some more details 'coz i'm assuming that you have at least some bmx background or can at least balance on your bike moderately. We may need to fine tune some basic skills before you can go for the endo stuffs Good luck trials mate!!! ;D

yep, it is...nakakainis ang ulan...two weeks na ko di nakapag-trails so kamusta na spins/ pivots natin? ayan pressure na kita..he..he...para may motivation yan ang kulang sa akin ngayon eh...walang taga-pressure kaya parang tinatamad ;D

Your correct about the rain pero practice pa rin ako kahit basa yung road Ayoko lang magpractice ng endo sa labas at baka mahalikan ko yung lupa Sa pivots nalagpasan ko na yung 10 degree mark, on to 60 or 90 degree na ko. Looks like I'll have to attach my rigid fork again to endo higher

Oi warlock migs...entertaining ba ;D ;D ;D But I don't lose hope...I've read at trials-online that some started trials riding even at the age of forty and some continue to ride at age 56... ;D Yung jamis hardtail mo mukhang pwede din pang trials yan ah...14" seat tube di ba?

Gt-18 pa lang ako(seriously), but don't think about your age dude. No one could stop you but your ownself from riding question lang - do long handlebars affect balance?

Hey GT! 13" sya pre, pero long top tube for XC racing ang design ng bike, not tough enough for trials I guess, dunno since its a steel hardtail, those small tubings really look flimsy beside an oversized aluminum ;D

Gt-18 pa lang ako(seriously), but don't think about your age dude. No one could stop you but your ownself from riding question lang - do long handlebars affect balance? Yep...short handlebars tend to be twitchy and will definitely affect your balance...mine is a 2" riser with length of 27"

That's quite short pero pwede na pag-tyagaan muna pre...but i believe you'd replace that once you progress to more advanced tricks When i replaced mine, i was also forced to replace the stem due to tube size ;D
