hello all,
I've started this new thread to encourage new riders into the field of DH cycling, as many of us know DH cycling is still a Circus Sideshow when comparing it to other cycling categories.
Despite our recent victory at the 2007 SEAgames held in thailand, DH still remains a sport in the cottage level in our country/ cycling society.
For all those interested in trying it out and even maybe gettin the hang of it and doin a quick crossover just post here and lets see what we can do ....
Some may not be aware but a lot of the LBS in the country are organizing small DH groups wherein they try to influence others to try n ride, shops like john wilkie, dirtdawg, speedybagal, cycleoptions and endless. Then there are the Core cummunities like PinoyMTBiker , urban-militia, Team Haooh and others.....
Oh and dont worry bout the educational stuff on the ride, if you do go with us your bound to meet and ride DH stars like: Coach eboy FMF, Joey & Jay-R barba, Jeff O, Parabans M, Boyet C, Nilo D and other Pro riders who would be happy to assist , guide and answer all your querries......
Cuz when we all got into this sport we knew what we were getting into, and Expanding the sport for all those interested would be a secondary objective .....
I promise you wala kayong mabibili sa mall or sa internet na adrenaline rush at saya na katumbas ng what you'd get out of DH riding..... ;D
** I'd like to thank the PinoyMTBiker admins for giving me a chance to voice out what most of our advocates would really want for the present n future of the sport.
.........So lets hear from y'all ;D

hehehe... hi mindbomb-pao hehehe....
Oh and dont worry bout DH tech help if u need help regarding suspension technology, set-ups, parts & compatibility, skill oriented questions, Local Communities in your area and other stuff related to DH ..... just ask at the FAB thread and we'll be happy to help you and hook you up with what you need.....
We just get a bit sarcastic bout stuff..... dont mind that.... its just normal.. but we give straight and sure facts ......... if there are stuff we dont know about we have profesional friends we ask about the stuff and we relay them to you.....
Like i said 4yrs ago here in PinoyMTBiker: if i was 1 and i can pull 10 people what more if ... there were 10 like me pulling 10 more... that'll make 100 of us pulling 10 each and that makes 1000....
For the industry and the sport and my friends in the sport........ lets make it grow!

mountain bikes in general are expensive, with dh mountain bikes priced more - from a budget bikers perpective. are there hardtail friendly dh trails? i've been wanting to try dh ever since i started mt biking a year ago kasi. maybe promoting newbie/hardtail friendly trails more can help get more riders do dh. just sharing my thoughts.

you are right sup...things got so complicated....dh tracks and dh mega bucks bikes and apparels...it's like motocross to supercross....that's why a lot of mt.bikers shy away from it...ageing dhers are not replenished but young aggressive blood... let's encourage young breeds to the line...yung mga experts di na nadadagdagan kasi walang umaakyat kasi walang karera...nababawasan pa nga sila...race calendar for 08...DH run on weekend sked...more XC riders now and i hope they'll make the transition...parang dati...what goes around comes around...viva

RUTS pala tawag dun.... pagliko tumilapon kami... OVERSHOOT pala yun... may sumemplang nauna sa bike... ENDO daw yun.... and a lot more of introduction.... this is the start.... pero ang totoo.... dati pa pala nag-start ang DH.... arsenals nila? XC BIKE! HARDTAIL N 2 INCHES ANG FRONT SUSPENSION WITH V-BRAKES AND MAX OF 1.95 TIRES (SLICK)! TODO PA SA TAAS ANG SEATPOST... WALANG BABAAN! even HANS REY was doing DOWNHILL before! they were crazy! now i analyze.... i was RIDING trails before using sub-standard bike... I SURVIVED, THE BIKE SURVIVED..... later, i used a better bike, I SURVIVED, THE BIKE SURVIVED.... after that, i bought a QUALITY BIKE AND PARTS.... THE BIKE SURVIVED, I SURVIVED.... NOW, i got a good set-up DH Bike.... i still SURVIVED, THE BIKE SURVIVED... heck, I'M STILL RIDING!! ========================================= yes it Matters to use a good set-up bike... but you really don't need to make big gastos... kung ano ang nakayanan... pagkasyahin at ayusin ng maayos... properly tuned bikes are most of the time, far better than EXPENSIVE Bikes... nagsimula ako sa simple, at unti-unti lang po.. di po ako mayaman... now i have a quite expensive bike... but nabuo yun through my years of riding and pag-iipon at support from my parents earnings at pagtratrabaho ko..... i'm happy... ok lang magasgas, sumemplang yung bike... basta mas marami yung gasgas at tama sa bike kesa sa katawan ko... y? ang bike pwedeng palitan... my body... i think dehins.... DH IS FUN AND EXCITING... It can give you the adrenaline rush you never experienced before.... but one thing is imporant to keep in mind if we have a new riding buddy... THE ASSURANCE THAT THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE FUN AND THAT THEY ARE SAFE RIDING WITH YOU! we riders of different discipline has lots of stories to tell.... and i am happy to know that most of us share in the promotion of Biking to other people... opening up their minds about the subject and changing how they think about people riding bikes down the street and anywhere else... keep up the good story-telling and i applaud all of u guys and gals!

YUP! I agree with GTU, you dont need an expensive rig to start with unless you're a richi rich son....up to know im still using my generic mongoose rig, why??? coz it works just fine, just tune it right and it can kick ass...and my parts are ukay items, parts from gtu, joey barba, egay, roy cas, raymond, etc...for me its not the bike its the passion and not fashion....i ride coz i love to ride and its much better if you do it with your papas and their padawans....no politics....no b_llsh#ts, just us and the tracks

bros dont worry about the drops and jumps on a DH trails, you can always use the options, dont push your self too far...it hurts...do things bit by bit...same with the bike, if you know your bike cant handle high drops dont do it, might hurt your pocket also

thanks gtu for the inspiring words! i guess the media is a huge factor; intimidating riders who want to try downhill. gbb, raul, wanna try makiling trails? bike going up, and go downhill from there. ;D seriously, i'll find the time to join the newbie dh runs. we still have 362 days for 2008.

Tagaytay Ridge 3 is xc friendly dh course. Going uphill is sweet too cause it's all fire roads. But you can have the option to hire a jeep to haul your ss back up to Tagaytay.
