Citing an induction from the residents of Laurel Batangas, the Mayor has issued a total ban for the use of trails starting Today April 2007. Residents have informed the local government of trail abuse and overuse. Laurel, Batangas Councilor Vic Redentor has already passed an ordinance closing the trails of Malaylay (Peak 3, Ridge 3), Humabon (Peak 2), Dagit (Pappy's) and Tarikan (Holy trail). No banning was passed for the B10 trail near Mendez.
The trailheads of Ridge 2 and Ridge 3 now has signages warning Bikers of arrest if they decide to push through and ride.
Hope we at PinoyMTBiker can fix this problem as most of us here rides these trials often...
so sad...
lets just all follow the rules to avoid more problems and avoid possible hostility. NOTE: This was a PRANK during April fools Day, folks. Relax _________________________________________________________________ "lets ride! [glow=limegreen]srekcus sloof lirpa yppah[/glow] lets ride!"

This better be an april fools joke. will find out this week. peak 2 is on private property. he cant ban it - can he? hope there wasnt any untoward incident in recent group rides there. I certainly hope a few bunch of !#$!#%-offs wont ruin it for the rest of us. Spoke to nonong tonight - Just a quick update. Apparently the misunderstanding came from jeepney tariffs and "booking" for bikers shuttling back up. There was a bit of jealousy among regulars and those who want a piece of the income. Padrinos came into the picture there were some grievances aired during a cooperative meeting where some members of the municipality was there. According to nong, there was another meeting today - they were able to sort out the issue so the trails are not closed, but would be best to coordinate with him if you plan to ride it. Just remember to give way and be courteous to people and be gentle to livestock (Cattle, carabaos, chicken and goats) tied along the trail. If there are any problems you guys can text nong - 09217614799 THE TRAILS ARE NOT CLOSED!

Actually me and 10 other riders (w/coach eboy, etc.) went to ridge 2 a week ago..and decided before riding not to hire nonong because we opted to hire a different (longer)jeep so that we would only be paying for 1 jeep rather than hiring 2 jeeps w/c will cost 800php each. But apprently nonong found out and was waiting for us after the ride. He insisted on using his jeep and unyo(another rider) tried to talk to other jeepney drivers along the main road of laurel but no one would like to take us back to Tagaytay? So we ended up hiring nonong(bad trip na siya because he was not our first option) and loaded 11 bikes and 9 adults and 2 kids on his jeep and the group agreed to pay him 1,000Php for his services.
When we reached Garden hills and unloaded our bikes and gave the money to nonong. He told me that "next time sir dehins ko na kayo isasakay ulit kasi lugi ako pag madami kayo" i asked why? and he was able to answer?? kasi i think there's no difference how many riders can fit inside a jeep..ksi whether 2 or 11 riders kami on his jeep we would still pay him 1000php for the fare? labo!?
First of all, IMO if he told me that before we loaded our bikes sa jeep niya edi sana we would be still looking for an alternative? And not "all riders are equal" kasi nonong was used to other rider na "galante"..sorry to say pero dehins kami ganun. and we were just practical.

And not "all riders are equal" kasi nonong was used to other rider na "galante"..sorry to say pero dehins kami ganun. and we were just practical. Aidz this kinda explains nonong's texts to me last saturday and yesterday morning about a group of riders which started a controversy with the other jeepney drivers. he was really worried and told me to talk to the president of their "union". nakakaawa din naman yung tao maski papano. ive known and rode with him for 6-7 years na. weve gotten so close that he always texts/calls to invite our group (downhill hogs) on celebrations, birthdays, binyags and fiestas. ever since one of our friends gave him a celfone, he makes it a point to text every weekend to ask us if we were riding, sometimes updates us on trail conditions, etc. etc... For us, paying a small amount for the enjoyment that the trails give us is quite fair for both sides. dont get me wrong, yes galante kami magbigay sa kanya, we make it a point to give him extra most of the time pero we are also practical... thats why we ride in big groups... so that the distribution is lesser... in my opinion 100-150 isnt that bad at all. lalo na ngayon na mahal na ang diesel. surprisingly and fotunately for us, the price we were paying nonong 6 years ago is still the same price we pay him now. i guarantee you guys that if you find other jeeps to bring you up to tagaytay, super mahal mag presyo ang ibang drivers in laurel. maaarte pa and wont help you load the bikes... and if they load it, wala silang pakialam w/ the bikes. gasgas sigurado. there was a time kasi na sira jeep ni nonong a few years back and we had to look for other jeeps. bad experience. anyway, to the new riders, pls understand naman the situation of the people there. may mga nagagalit na na locals lately because some of the newer riders dont even use their common sense into thinking about the safety of the locals and their livestocks. simple lang naman, if there are people climbing up, either on foot, on horses, carabao, or on motorcycles, simply stop or slow down (as in slowwww...) and greet them... a gesture as simple as a smile wont hurt u. maski a simple "magandang umaga po makikiraan lang" wont make u look like a wuss. respect lang and everything will be fine. sayang din yung mga trails if ever it will be gone. where else near the vicinity of metro manila can u find a DH trail where you have the luxury of starting at the top? wala nang tulak-tulak involved.... and for a small price of 100-200bucks for a days worth of smile...

@sbt - had a hunch it was an april's fools joke. thing is nonong texted me over the weekend and he kinda vented some of the things that happened, so i was worried something was bad was going to happen. It was a good eye opener though. The fact of the matter is these are my local trails. If I lose them I will probably take up gardening or something HAHA. so the thought of losing them can drive you a bit batty.
anyway back to our regular programming to anyone who wants to ride this holy week. Will be at tagz from wednesday to sunday. just sms if you guys want to hit the trails.
HOLY TRAIL TAYO!!!

hehehe... been ages since i tried a gravity ride in Tagaytay, but i had heard that fares had indeed gone up, found this out from Louie Pasaway like 3 years ago, i don't recall exactly but he mentioned somthing like php100/rider, sounds right bec a regular jeep holds 8 rigs and 8 riders. it will be an unimaginable nightmare if Tagaytay folks will ban riders all because of clueless newbies not doing it right (referring to SBT's previous post) or for any other reason like SBT's convincing scenario

good day to all!
i miss riding in tagaytay... been there for quite sometime now,.
i just want to share some lessons in DH guys!
- 2000, we first rode the tagaytay trails and many have we learn to preserve our DH rights...
------- Don't be a f-u-c-*-*-*-g SNOB / SOAB. everytime you see people down the trail, Slow Down and greet them "Good Morning", normally they will answer back, if they don't it's ok. (this was a culture started by the group of the legendary mr. Ricky M.).
------- don't leave your trash behind... specially when you are on the trails, preserving nature 'ika nga!
------- if you cross some private lands , or in the back of a house or their crops, say "good morning, makikiraan lang po..
------- don't mess with thier chicken, horse, cow, carabao, dogs, cats, etc... they will surely be mad at you... incase you accidentally hit a chicken, lagot ka! you have to pay them pati yung mga naulilang mga sisiw! (joke lang!) stop and say sorry. if it's going to cost you some bucks, it's ok, walang kasalanan yung manok! hehehehe...
------- if somebody is going in the opposite direction and is riding a horse, slowdown! the horse might be shocked on how fast you are and may make it a little crazy and is dangerous specially to the person riding a horse! tatabi naman ynug kutsero noh!
------- if the horse is tied in the trees and is blocking your trail slow down and stop. somebody from the group must make a warning to incoming riders the there is a hazard on the trail! if the owner of the pet is present, inform him/her to try to tie the pet on the sides so that riders won't be hitting the pet or get tangled on the rope!! comedy ka pag na-video-han ka! habang buhay kang pag-uusapan!
------- wag mag-smoke ng doobie na may nakaka-kitang tao! baka manghingi sila! sige ka maubusan ka ng supply! (Right redneb?)
------- You know what to do!! wag kayong Ignorante! ok?
ang sarap mag-DH! but we need to remember this:
"We don't have RIGHTS in Downhill Trails, we are just given an OPPORUNITY to ride it down fast!!!" --- G.T.U.
