CONGRATS to all PinoyMTBiker members who joined the race! Special THANK YOU to bandido for accomodating us (jenmai, melissa and me) in our spur of the moment decision on this race. It was a challenge indeed! Twas exciting as the group had trouble after the mamplasan tollgate - their vehicle refused to start. Being the good hearted man that he is, Arnold has to stop and help out the group before going our way to the race as it was already past 7am then. There were around 150+ riders who competed. There was no women's cat as there were only 8 of us there, jenmai and i were enticing melissa to join for this 45km ride, setting our mind frame as it being a trail ride than a race. Grabe, pamatay yung bumubulagang ahon (sudden steep uphills after a curve) no time for you to prepare.. and as it is a seemingly endless race, we have no idea when it will stop, it was a surprise ending after that last uphill, eh finish na pala -- d@mn. my last trail ride was the PinoyMTBiker December Hidden Valley ride so you could just imagine the torture! nyahahahaha!!! Women's had the following winners: 1st olive, 2nd aling alice, a 51 yr old local who kicks ss!, 3rd xhi, 4th jenmai, though injured from the nomads race, still managed to place top 5 (idol!) the lady from southside (wearing yellow) over took me in one of those bulagang ahons around 10km(?) away from the finish, and beth (grnhrnt, was she the one in pink?) and i were racing neck to neck during the last trail portion kaya sinagasaan ko na ung putik.. i was on my way na then the last steep (for my standard ha! hahaha) ahon had me -- and there, in the last 3kms, she smoked me sa ahon... had i knew na yun na ang last ahon before finish, siguro tiniis ko na un. hahahaha.. the other girl DNF'd. and melissa thought jenmai and i were in the ambulance as 45km with uphills were unthinkable for an injured racer and a downhiller in-training. upon reaching finish line, melissa and i were joking about how hard the race was and i told her "sis, good thing you didn't joined the race, else our friendship would be ruined!!!" hahahahahahaha!! whew! whatarace! galing! grnhrntcongrats kay beth and the other southside lady! good to see all the familiar faces in the race!

wow, olive beat ate alice! that's quite a feat even if ate alice is already that old. she still smokes a lot of guys at races.
some other results i got (just from the mens health all terra team hehe)- dandan was 4th in the pro /elite cat (which gives you an idea of the racing level over there), and jm 15th overall! juboy was 1st in the beginner cat and 16th overall. pretty much a good showing overall though including raul & brusko (kaso nagrarason hehe) and team cycling zone. congrats to everyone!

Juboy's time was 1 hour and 29 mins. The course was 45kms long. 70% road and 30% fire roads. A lot of racers were using slicks.

King,
Allterra did very good in this race. Atty. Mike, dropped his bottle stopped and picked it up and after 15 mins caught up again w/ me and whooped my butt! hahahaha... great going atty mike! Jm is really getting stronger and stronger as well. Of course dandan and juboy were expected to do well. Raul rode so no pics :-(. hehehe great race.
Magulo lang yung "categorizing" but I think there was no real way of knowing who should be in what category.
But it was fun and a true tester. 44 kms trying to go race pace for 1:45 mins is hard!
Congrats to all who won and to those that joined !
@ Rizza, yes beth was wearing pink. We all were wasted at the end.
Till the next race. I overheard another Maarat race? Pls. confirm.

yeah dec 3 i think, down at the divine mercy track again, although some of the sections of the old course are gone because of the subdivision being developed there. race organizer is eric roque. should be good. there hasnt been an xc race in ages. If I may use a naval term - "Attaboy" or rather "AttaMTBabes" Xhibo, Jenmai, and Feline13. Despite your handicaps and last minute spur of the moment decision to join, winners pa rin kayo. To realize you signed up to do a trail ride and Not to race. Thanks goodness Melissa didn't compete or else "Hala kayo!"

Actually, the race was started a little bit late, the organizer waited for tolits group ;D ;D
I was just decided to join the race when I texted by Melissa for a lift, I immediately asked my wifey to come with me and my daugther for an instant visa.
Grabe, I was seized with massive cramps on last 2 kms, but I keep on pedalling until I reached the finish line, I was in the no. 16 in my age category, at least not DNF.
We were the last group to take off (green number) together with girls, my mistake was I changed my tires and used kenda nevegal which is sticky in the road, ang kunat ipadyak, eh 80% yata ang road, but when we reached the off road trails, marami ng natuhog, yun naka slick tires, thats our advantage (PinoyMTBiker).
Anyway, it was a very memorable experienced, thats my second race I joined after 24 hour race in la mesa dam.
I will post the pictures I got, I took pics before the start of the race.

Thanks for sharing the pictures Bandido.
Now we have a pictorial inkling of the race you joined.
Cramps overtook you with 2 kms to go. Does this mean aging is catching up with us?

sorry to sir tolits, paul, jon allan n arman for not showing up..di ako nagising..my apologies... anyway congrats to all who joined the race... oks lang, obvious naman na nasa sierra ka hehe! ;D (joke) yup, its unfortunate indeed...you should hav enjoyed pushing an auv in the middle of slex este! doing the fastest xc race ever conceived ( i think )..no technical ekek here..just brute power and endurance...your kind of a race. doc jason, i guess the issue with the bottles was the fact that we had to inflate our fat knobby tires rather unusually high just to make ourselves competitive on the pavement with the narrow tire equipped locals (pls see pics - u can easily identify the visitors from locals)...just a regular lubak cud send your bottle fying.
