guys, how about including running in your trainings? does it help? It will help weight loss and cardio, but not the muscles you use on the bike. For cross-training, I think weight training would be better.

For cross-training, I think weight training would be better. yup. upper body weight training para sa pag hila ng bike mo and lower body (free weight squats, lunges, deadlifts) para sa padyak muscles na mga pa ahon (ggrrrrrr). running would help naman for endurance but not sa muscles. you could mix match your trainings in between -- depends on how you want it to be.

yup agree ako. different muscle groups yan. i mean, i could say that my endurance when biking is quite good, and yet when hiking ilang steps lang out of breath na ko. focus siguro on upper body strength, which is what most cyclists tend to overlook. lalo na sa back and abs i think, since these are the primary stablizers and connection of your legs to your torso guys, how about including running in your trainings? does it help? guys, how about including running in your trainings? does it help? Sa endurance and pain management hehe Advantage ang running kung kulang oras mo 30min run feels like an hour on a bike for me Problema lang, running is addictive baka makalimutan mo na mag bike Weights? Tingin ko depends on your body type I get bigger and heavier pag nag weights ako so I avoid them swimming nalang, napansin ko lang , galing mag tanggal ng lactic acid sa legs after biking

After having trained for a couple of months, your now ready for the best race training possible. Joining an actual race!
It is only race experience that can teach you best where you'll still be lacking, be it physical (more training) or mental (talk to more experienced racers to get proper mental attitudes or strategies) or perhaps you still lack bike handling skills.
Your really not expected to win in your 1st race, altho I've heard it can be done, the experiences are definitely very usefull in your future attempts.
So lets join up the next SMB xc race to be held in the same venue on Nov 06. See you there!!!

I agree with Mon (GRNHRNT), join a race. You will know how strong your really are... there's so much that race pressure can do to bring out the best ... and worst in you.
See you in the next race. You don't actually need to win, just try to finish it. If you don't try and try again. You will notice huge improvements in your mental and physical make-up.

Weights? Tingin ko depends on your body type I get bigger and heavier pag nag weights ako so I avoid them Maybe you can try altering the training program you do when you lift weights. Maybe the intensity, sets, reps, and rest intervals are geared towards hypertrophy. There are different kinds of phases for resistance training. For biking, there are generally 3 phases. First in muscle endurance, then strength, then power. There is no hypertrophy phase for bikers since the extram muscle is not needed unlike in sports like basketball or football. Remember, you can always get strong without getting big

Yes Sir Rad, I was watching you go... Btw, It felt really good seeing your kids cheer you on during the last race! I'm sure it helped make you finish the race.
See you at the next one...
