epekto sa akin...that I have to discover yet...haven't been able to join races kasi but i've observed sa iba na kakilala ko na sumasali... 1. the eyes...may kakaibang glaze...kung magkaibigan kayo mapapansin mo na dati friendly or smiling eyes ang makikita mo. But at the race starting line...parang nagkakaroon na ng film yung mga mata nya...di kaya dahil sa nerbiyos...o di kaya nasa "kill this biker next to me" mode na sya ;D 2. the speech...hmmmm...bakit ganun...pag nasa starting line na parang di na makapag-salita...meron din iba kung ano-ano sinasabi na di mo na ma-gets...at meron pang iba...suplado 3. the hands...wala lang...karamihan mapapansin mo death-grip to the max sa manibela ;D ...but maybe applicable lang ang lahat sa taas sa mga race newbies? ....well palagay ko on my very first race lahat nang yan mararanasan ko...ha..ha..ha.. ;D 4. and there's always those guys na very cool ang "arrive"...parang di apektado...and they always get the medals, trophies, cash...etc...ganyan talaga siguro pag race pro ka na

Back in High School, I use to join in Taekwondo competitions and I found na it is good for self-esteem even if you don't win, its the will to sum the courage just to be apart of it. But in MTB?... I've given some serious thought on joining competitions... but never really made it to the starting line of any. I still feel hesitant with my skill level. Maybe in the near future... ;D Libre mangarap!

Remember Mtbiking is not a physical game totally. its also a mental game on how you open your mind to it, Competing means not only to run the fastest time you can run. but on what u learn during it, and how you deal with your own fears and questions on the bike.
Competitions are not about whos the best, well partly ;D. its a mix of all riders who come from different levels, forms, backgrounds and skills. Its where everybody can learn from everyone else.
The Intensity, pressure, Everything around you becomes alive. Its the Experience. You meet more ppl make new friends, you learn other riding styles and you can gauge your skill level din. libre kain may libre pa jersey o tshirt. ;D
Races are also good spots para ma discover ka at ma sponsoran ka da ba? pero aside from all the politics and stuff. Racing is the ultimate frontier for everyone who wants to be someone. ;D

for me, a race is a test of a person's grace under pressure. having a clean run during practices doesn't make up for having a bad performance during the race itself.
practices are 100% physical of how you would exceed your limit and how far would you go through the tracks as clean as possible.
races are 100% mental of applying your practice runs without being rattled by the presence of other strong riders, more experienced riders, or other factors like having a bet over your head against another rider, trash talks etc.
personally, races challenged me to be a better rider, upgrade my skills, and do things i see from our expert riders.
pinaka importante, i have fun during races.

medyo OT but my thoughts as a spectator: how do you tune out to the annoying hecklers in the crowd, those who make kantiyaw (ano ba english nito) as if they could do better. you'd think the toughest booos would come from your opponents, but not the fence-sitters and bystanders. i feel like dropping a sack of potatoes on their heads. how do you avoid getting distracted by that?

i have my mindset that they can say all they want, if they think they can do better why aren't they racing? the fact that your on the tracks and they are just watching you is already a point you have to pe broud of. plus, once you leave the starting gate, there's nothing on your mind but the finish line

If you want to improve your mental game, golf books are good resources I have about 3 golf books but i dont even know how to swing a club The best, "The inner game of Golf" Tim gallaway Nandun- handling pressure, relaxed concentration, tuning out anything that not in the oprformance, focusing to remove distractions etc.
when you have the mechaniocal skills na, then competition becomes 90% mental
