annualy i subject myself to an executive check up, where in the laboratory tests my blood, urine and subjects me to an ecg machine. However, this year is very different.. it's the first time my ecg results had a different interpretation from normal tracing.. it now reads SEPTAL FIBROSIS. i'm doing some searches in google so far what i had come up is fibrosis - abnormal growth of tissue septal - pertains to membrane e.g septum connect the 2 arteria to the heart?? just got the results today.. my oh my.. this has got me worried. i recently started cycling late 2007.. thought i my health was getting better..

Hi veeduber, I'm not a cardiologist but my limited knowledge tells me that septal fibrosis cannot be detected thru ECG...maybe 2D-echo. Still it warrants additional investigation by your physician/cardio.

Not mistaken - i had same diagnosis 2 years ago. The LV showed abnormal spikes. My personal doctor speculate my LV had to much muscle (kindergarten explanation ;D) but he said not a concerned. He send me to cardiologist for further test. They did and echo and treadmill test. The treadmill test was to monitor the response of heart during normal to intense workout until will reach your max heart rate. The results came out normal. I also went for another cardiologist for second opinion just in case. They did same process. I came out same results.

Vincent, I go through the same annual check ups, Mine is a different case, I had a right brundal branch block (hope I got it right) it got me worried, It a result of something blocking your arteried which pumps blood to your heart, had the same test, after ecg, echo, etc.. with treadmill, and it turned out normal, I had 3 opinions, 2 cardio from my healthinsurance and 1 more who was not a cardio but a doctor friend. But mine is a rare case in a way, think that my block was in born, the only advise given to me is try to live healthy, excercise, right food, which until now I dont practice, brad my advise, get a second opinion, undergo the next set of test and not to worry too much, worrying is also bad for the heart too! Just relax, and dont let it bother you that much live a normal life, as long as you dont feel something different i your chest its not gonna kill you, but ofcourse, maintain your check up and if meds is required, just in case. Your in good health brad, dont worry too much! :-)

(2-D echo along with a tread-mill test to monitor your lovable heart.. respiratory rate.. don't forget to brush your teeth ;D and a realtime ECG... shave the hair off your chest ) or if the growth is making your heart change its structure/size/shape but that is kind of rare... you shouldn't have any real problems... stay away from the fatty foods and make sure that you don't have any dental problems cause it can aggravate the condition.. otherwise... ride on!!!
