I was 86kgs and waist was 34", now am 66kgs and waist 30"... and am on it for more than a year now... I feel 10 years younger (at least on what I feel) .. am a newbie and I was able to conquer cardiac on my first try... did it several times now and just lately i did tried a second climb immediately after I reach the peak.. hopefully I do third in the future... to think that a little more than a year ago I was already breathing heavily even just to climb the MRT stairs...
how was I able to achieve it?
i think most important is your desire to lose that extra weight and get fit - it was hard but they say your body only needs at least 6 weeks to get accustomed to a new activity after that it will become a habit (did i get it right?)... exactly what help me.. now am reading the 'nutritional label' on foods i choose to take.. now I learn to set aside and dont feel 'sayang' on crispy chicken skins... i now know the difference between the ordinary soda and the 'lite' soda... i can take 5 days week without white rice (i go for oatmeal instead in the morning - that is complex carbo) i have a two cheat days a weak (i eat what i want).. i never starved...
have a good exercise ( weight rsistance training) at least 3 times a week and a lot of biking on weekend... enough rest!

Bust the beer belly? Avoid beer! Diet - Carb control, don't avoid it entirely. Exercise - Resistance training and lots of cardio (run, ride your bike!). Do sports you can enjoy with increased intensity. Do more + eat less = lose weight 1 lb of fat = 3500 calories 1 hour briskwalk = 360 calories lost 1 cup of rice = 200 calories Assuming that with your existing regimen your weight is maintained. Eat a cup of rice less and briskwalk an hour a day, there is a net loss of 560 calories. That's 3920 excess calories burned in a week or 1.12 lbs burned. 4.5 lbs in a month, pretty good. Here's a cool calculator to help: www.healthstatus.com/calculate/cbcAccording to this, an hour of MTBing is 614 calories for a 160lb person. Great way to lose weight.

Working your abs is a good thing, but it won't help a beer belly. Spot reducing (burning fat from only one place) is a myth. If you want to reduce fat, you have to reduce it all over, also a good thing.
That means burning more energy than you consume, and that means eating less, eating smarter, and exercising more.
Drink water before every meal (makes you feel fuller) Eat from a small bowl rather than a big plate Keep lots of raw veggies (carrots, cucumber, tomatoes etc) and fruit around for snacks
Drink water. We drink a LOT of calories. Even unsweetened juices have more than you think.
Be humble, remove pride from your life... as in pride chicken, pride meat, pride fish, pride rice.
You have to eat carbs, but eat them in the morning and at lunch, avoid them at dinner. The carbs you eat in the evening hit full burn about the time you go to bed, when your body needs the energy least. Only one thing your body can do with energy it's not burning: store it. On your belly.
Most of all, ride a lot!
If you work in an office, use the stairs instead of the elevator! How many people ride an elevator daily and then pay a gym to use a stairmaster??
Building up abdominal muscles does reduce the appearance of sag, by providing a stronger base of support for whatever extra is on your belly. Exercises like yoga can also improve posture, which makes a difference: your gut sags more when you slouch forward. Better posture also helps avoid long term back problems.
Now I'm gonna go ride...

If you want to reduce fat, you have to reduce it all over, also a good thing. A clarification, if you please allow... Working your abs doesn't spot reduce the belly fats like what most people imagine. What abs exercises do is strengthen the muscles in the abs area. This allows you to contract and flex your abs muscles. So you can suck in your tummy just before the shutter is pressed. Do that often enough and the tummy will shrink... eventually! And yes, diet is the key!

actually, losing the beer belly will not happen if you don't reduce the body fat. The reduction of the belly size will start from the top/ below the chest then go down further to the lower abs. But for me the key is eat healthy and eat less and train hard very hard! No pain no gain!
